2011, 2013, and 2016 each shine in different ways but you wouldn’t be wrong with having your top 3 be those three. 2008 and 2019 were very good as well.

2012 was great but I didn’t think he was as sharp off the baseline and I also think the slower courts worked against him a bit.

2015 was probably Djokovic’s worst winning version in his prime. The SF was not too great and the final wasn’t one of his best either. Still better than 2020-on, but not quite up there with those other six.

I rarely watch the AO.
The men's finals, for instance, are played at 4:30 AM in my district.
Oh, now I recall. The AO I liked the most was 2017. I did watch that final.
Federer last set rolled back the years. Pleasure to watch tennis like that. Now we have Fritz in a Major final. I need a few stiff drinks...

I think 2016. That year nole was reaching his human best potential. He roasted Nadal and fed back to back in 2 weeks and in final again breadsticked Murray who was playing very well

That is one time I thought Murray would have beaten fed if draws reversed.

(Maybe) unpopular opinion, but i personally think AO 2013 was one of his peak performances for sure. He was incredibly athletic and the fittest, the most confident in his shots i have ever seen Novak play.

The way he defended against Wawrinka was something incredible. Peak baseline play right there. Only Nadal from AO 2009 is on par or maybe even slightly better when it comes to defense/retrieving ability.

And then he absolutely demolished Ferrer and then outplayed both - Berdych and really good version of Murray.

2011. Federer is almost always playing poorly if he loses in straights in a slam. Not in this match.

Edit: 2016 is a good choice too. His level in the first two sets against Fed was incredible.

2019 is up there, but that was a really poor final from Nadal as well so it's hard to gauge Djoker's level.

Age does not forgive older people and their early bedtime habits.

There’s no need to make this subjective, we simply look at the stats, the stats are facts and we should go buy that instead of peoples emotions and feelings, don’t you think?

Did you really just put 2014 one as a vote option...did you really just do it?!...:X3: And why the heck his maiden slam run is missing in 2008?! LOL He semi-fina lperformance against Federer, when he dispatched him in straight sets alone worth more than majority of his runs during 10's and 20's decades!, especillay 20's one!...

Best overall I think 2011 but the peakest of peaks has to be 2016 AO. The level he reached in the SF in those first two sets… my god. Never seen Federer get bullied so mercilessly on a court before or since that match.

Definitely 2011 - straight setted Berdych, Fed and Murray in the last 3 matches that year, start of an incredible year for Djokovic

My favourite ever Djokovic performance at AO though was 2019 final where he mercilessly destroyed Nadal in straights in 2 hours (Nadal had not lost a set to get to the final, Nadal had 1 extra day of rest, didn't matter, Djokovic was playing like a man possessed. :D

Agree, he was playing video game tennis in 2013.

It's between AO 11 and AO 19 to be honest. Both the finals he played close to perfection.

Also OP selected 2014 tgeyear he lost in QF. And didn't select 2008, the year he first won.

AO 21 might be the most impressive of them all

that’s the perfect answer to me

2013 all things considered.

Altough to be fair, he got lucky with a terrible line call that would have otherwise likely costed him the match against Wawrinka.

i've always heard '13 get hyped for the Ferrer match, '16 get hyped for the Federer match, and '19 get hyped for the Nadal match, but somehow i've never quite heard '08 and '11 get hyped nearly as much for (e.g.) the Federer matches. any idea why that is?

Those two matches were closer and not quite demolition jobs like 2013 and 2016 SFs.

Difficult to pick between 2011 and 2019. I say 2011 for the level that he maintained throughout the tournament (although he was exceptional in the semis and final in 2019)
2016 had the highest peaks but was patchy as a tournament overall - match against Simon was disastrous. 2013 featured an epic against Stan and really good wins against Berdych, Ferrer, Murray in succession

that makes sense, but i mostly wonder about that lost set in '16. it feels kind of like damning Djokovic with faint praise to be like "in the best match he ever played he still lost a set to a decent Federer." it's easier for me to accept a lost set with, e.g., Sampras and the Wimbly '95 final with it being against a good Becker on old grass.
