Which Yonex is closest to G360+ Speed MP?

Loved the Speed MP but hated the paintjob, so I switched to Yonex and learned to appreciate the longer handle, quality control and the isometric head shape. I picked the Ezone 98L to mod it to the specs of my previous Speed but it still plays very differently, mostly due to the much lower launch angle and higher stiffness (which results in too much power for me after adding lead).
Hence, the question, which yonex would be the closest to Speed MP? Three obvious candidates are Vcore 98, Vcore 100 and Ezone 100 and I personally gravitate towards Vcore 98 - am I right? And while we are at it - is the previous Vcore 98 close enough to the new one? Really liking the galaxy black paintjob of that one.

There is none…. with thin beam and the free power of Speed MP….in term of looks VCP 100 but not even close in SMP’s power level.

It’s the more polarised, higher swingweight design of the Speed MP that gives this advantage. Who said Graphene tech was bad?

I think the closest equivalent is the VCore 98. Needs 1-2g of lead at 1200 if you want to match the Speed MP plow. Current gen is good, but I preferred the feel of the previous gen. YMMV.

VCore 98 2021 is a better stick but 2019 model has better feel. Go figure.

Why not go with the black Speed MP?
Thought about it, but I really like the long Yonex handles for the 2HBH.

Less power is not a problem, always can add lead. Too much power is an actual problem with Ezone 98 for me.

Exactly what I wanted to hear, nice :sneaky: Ordering the black Vcore 98 8-B

so to answer my own question - the VCore 98 with some lead (4g in total) near top is as close as it can get. Just a bit more static weight, but the overall playability is basically the same - launch angle, power/control level, sweet spot size, plow-through.
Initially the Vcore had this hollow feel, in contrast to the solid feel of the Speed MP, but the added weight fixed it somehow.

VCore 98 2021 has much less power and Less spin potential than speed IMO. VCore is also more muted. Not sure what will happen when you make Vcore 98 more head heavy.

I demoed the 360+ Speed MP at the same time as the Yonex Ezone100. I thought they both had about the same maneuverability, amount of power, and spin potential. For me, the Yonex served significantly better, but that could just be because the specs were closer to my regular frame.

Even though it swung slightly easier, the Ezone 100 was a little harder to whip because it is less polarized. The Yonex has more feel at impact. It was one of the few Yonex's that hasn't felt odd to me because of the head shape.

I have to say the two did play a whole lot alike in many ways. I even found them both slightly erratic in similar ways.

I wonder why most of you mentioned the Vcore 98 instead of the vcore 100 as the closest yonex to Speed MP
I got my black VCore 98 and the playability is indeed very similar to Speed MP, after adding lead to the hoop to equalize the swing weight.
I think Vcore 100 has a higher launch angle due to the more open string pattern and higher stiffness.

Curious about ezone 100 tho..

So which one is more maneuverable?

So I have decided to take a closer look at the new Vcore Pro 100, since I like the paint job so much more and if the pictures here at TW are legit, the string pattern is way more open on the VCP100, even though the mains are shorter. To the best of my ability I tried to overlay the racquets on top of each other. VCP strings are red and Speed's are black and I have marked the middle 9 crosses with the corresponding colors. Interestingly, how still many people here already said that the launch angle on VCP100 is lower than on Speed. Now patiently waiting for some discounts on the VCP100 to try them irl.
