For me Tsitsipas is the most disappointing, because at this point I expect Zverev to lose (even if I did bring him further in my fantasy draw), and on the women's side it's so unpredictable it's hard to be surprisedby any result.

Osaka. None of the others have established themselves as anything more than occasionally successful.

Z can't hire a new manager until the whole thing is solved. And so, he has been doing the managing job for himself.

Boo hoo. Mac, Pete and Fed all went coachless for many years. And having a coach is a lot more important than a business manager (hell, Mirka was Roger's manager until 2005). But of course, Mac, Pete and Fed all were oozing with talent and were great players, whereas Zverev is neither. He can use this BS all he wants as an excuse, but the fact is: he was over hyped and will probably end up, if lucky, with a Raonic type of career.

Stop dismissing winning both the WTFs and multiple Masters. Considering only 4 active players have done so (Federer, Djokovic, Murray, Zverev), clearly it's not an easy achievement. It's also clear that Zverev isn't playing anywhere near his potential. His current results aren't due to a lack of talent, but to his game being off.

That said, the manager issue is a poor excuse for his Wimbledon result. It's not that he suddenly started playing poorly at the slams. This has been an issue for years.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and pretend you don't know the difference between a coach and a manager. Go and check that out. There's no comparison point.

On the good side:
Lauren Davis!

Just thought that deserved to be thrown in there for no particular reason.
Good call -- even tho she's actually 25. At a diminutive 157 cm (just under 5'2") with a baby face, she appears much younger. Even shorter than Dominika Cibulkova. Kudos to Lauren for taking down #5, Angie Kerber. Not heard much from Davis since her marathon match (48 games) with Simona Halep, another shorty, at AO 2018. Last Fall, she had fallen well outside the top 200. With her recent win over Kerber, her live ranking is now up to #71.

After her AO 2018 epic battle (loss) with Simona

Everyone bashes Zverev all the time but actually, there are only 5 20 to 23 year old who made more than 1 QF in tier 1 events this year: Tsitsipas, Tiafoe, Zverev, Coric and Khachanov. They're all out of W, true, but grass usually takes a bit longer to get used to than other surfaces.

Felix Auger-Aliassime. Lost to some guy that will be blasted off the court by djokovic.
FAA is only 18 and making the top 20 already. He is by far the best teenager around and has made finals. I can't believe the amount of vitriol he's getting, he's been around the top guys for about 5 minutes. You people need to CHILL. Try and remember how Fed was doing at 18.

People should also remember that Zverev is coming from an extraordinary 2018 season .
Most QF+ in tier 1 events (slams + masters) in 2018: Nadal, Cilic and Zverev: 8 (Djoko had 7 and Fed 6). But look at the age of the other guys.
So what if Zverev is struggling with maintaining intensity/form, not unusual after first big season. He'll be back and the sneering brigade will eat crow.

He lost to a guy that’s in the same boat. Lacking experience. He’s young but based on history he could be fall in a line with the other guys that amounted to nothing.

Huh?
Vitriol?
Chill?
We're disappointed, that's all!
No hate here dear.

Just more time to rest and rehab for either Umag or Bastad so he can secure that first ever ATP title.
Atlanta and Washington are next.

Oh, yeah? So Humbert was coming into the tournament with one half match at a GS, seeded, with bookies at one point rating him as the 4th favorite? Not the same sort of experience for both players at this tournament, no.

Why are adults so happy to crush young people trying to come up in the zone?
Are they desperate to up their ego?
So sad.

Humbert is 21. Not the same as 18. Tiafoe and Fritz are also 21 and have already won a title. Give Aliassime time to develop his game. A reminder that the 2 players with the most titles (Fed and Connors: 100+) won their 1st title at 19.

The age gap is just 25 months and change. Humbert turned 21 less than two weeks ago (June 26) and Félix turns 19 on August 8. Also, this is the first full year for both playing primarily on ATP level. The experience factor was pretty much equal going in with the teen actually having the edge on grass at top level.

Félix had everything in his favor Friday and blew it, showing up on autopilot vs a player with just two ATP match wins in the lead up while he had made finals and SFs in his approach. Very bad loss from up 5-2 double break in the second set.

That's what happens at 18 though and your first ever Wimbledon: adjusting to the surface. A lot goes on between almost 19 and just 21, those are the formative years. Anyway, I would have loved a win too ;) but maybe I am more patient. Do not put pressure on a guy who's just starting in the big leagues. All the guys he's beaten and his ranking are already a phenomenal achievement for his age.

Lauren Davis! She was so positive in her post match interview after beating the defending champion Kerber and then she goes down 3, 3 to Suarez Navarro! Maybe there is a reason why she is playing qualifying! So sad!

I wasn't referring to this thread specifically but stuff I've read about him on the board in general. Like people expect him to win every single match or to never lose to a guy ranked below him. That is extravagantly unrealistic expectations. Even the super experienced big 3 lose to lower ranked players at times. You have to see the big picture. And the big picture is that FAA is #21 and he's not even 19 yet. He's already played 3 finals o_O and defeated big names. Consistency takes the longest to achieve of course. Who knows what the future holds for anybody? But at this point, he's been nothing short of amazing.

Not making excuses for the loss at all, but just pointing out that at that age, "25 months and change" makes a helluva lot of difference, in sports and in life in general. So much learning and growth and maturity in those crucial months.

Stop grouping slams with masters.
