Who can win CYGs

His HC season this year was poor. I don't think he can win atp finals either. Maybe he can turn it around at the AO. I doubt it. Sinner gives him a lot of trouble.

How many masters and slam Sinner has on HC and how masters and slam Carlos has on HC?it's not even close. It's like claiming guy with one master is better than a player who has 3-4 masters and one slam.

I do think Sinner will be better on hards in the long run. He’s 40-8 on hards this year and will be better next year.

Sinner has no clay game. His game is too focused on attacking, particularly hitting bombs with his forehand and backhand groundstrokes. On clay, with the slower surface, Sinner's natural gamestyle is lsrgely neutralized. I think we can all safely agree that Sinner will never win RG.

I disagree my friend. Baby Sinner was about to serve for the first set against Nadal of all people. He can only improve.

I think Carlitos could do it. Australian Open is going to be his toughest major 1000% though so his biggest challenge will be right at the start of the year. And a big stumbling block for Alcaraz is that Sinner matches up very well and AO is going to be arguably his strongest major.

I’m not sure Sinner will challenge for CYGS. He seems more like a guy who is going to win a lot of majors and have dominant surface swings but maybe not have a season where he is completely unbeatable all season at majors.

I’m not a betting man but Sinner for me is almost an unbackable favourite to win Australian Open next year. He is winning the tournament, so we will have to wait another year after for Carlitos to make the first of his CYGS runs.

It’s going to be amazing watching these two maniacs trying to kill each other on the court over the next decade. Pure box office.

I believe the same once he fixes his stamina and movement, he will be unstoppable. As of now Carlos is better in HC but soon Sinner will make him look like a new Hewitt
I think across general hardcourt Alcaraz is possibly still the better player but in Melbourne the AO surface is very dead and a lot of the variety that Alcaraz has doesn’t translate like it does elsewhere. On livelier hardcourt that rewards variation in different spins and pace it’s a different story.

For a fair while Melbourne has been the domain of solid median power trajectory tennis and ball redirection….. GOATvedev, Djokovic etc etc. Sinner is the best in that world at that type of tennis right now and he is on the verge of pushing it into new territory. I’ve never seen anyone go as big so consistently as Sinner is doing now.

It’s pretty freaky and its looking like Sinner is going to win a lot of AOs unless the tournament goes through a substantial surface change.

Put any big 3 in their prime and they will do that for you.
In the current day? For sure. Imagine 2007 Baby GrassDal playing a grass court final against Berretini.

I love Berretini but let’s be honest the guys ankles would shaking and shivering seeing Nadal over the other side of the court.

If Nadal hadn’t been so good so young Fed might have ended up with 2 x Calendar Year grand slams, being the freak that he was.

On the contrary I think it is quite unlikely that Sinner won't win RG.

Obviously Carlos has a good chance to win the career grand slam. He already got two out of four and is well suited for RG. I would put it at 90%+.

Jannik might struggle a bit more on clay for now but there is still a lot of hope. CYGS is incredibly difficult.

One man has done it in the last 54 years. The likelihood of any current player doing it is extremely unlikely. In fact, close to impossible. People starting such threads are either trolling or utterly delusional. Only on TTW is some guy who has never won a slam suddenly penciled in to win the CYGS. It's hilarious on one hand and utterly pathetic on the other.

This "could win the Grand Slam" type of thread has repeatedly popped up on TTW over the years, usually by those who want to convince themselves that players of their time are GOAT candidates. Neither Alcaraz or Sinner have displayed any talent to win the Grand Slam (which some desperate-to-save-the-men's-tour types swore was Alcaraz's potential this year), yet here is another thread, predicting what is--at present--a sad fantasy.

Same poster laughed at people who thought Djokovic would win 7-8 slams after 28 to reach Fed and this was on the basis of " it has never been done before" game has changed , tennis is not what it used to be. You may call it a different sport as well.

What about Rune? The kid has Becker on his side, he will probably try to turn him from Di Caprio brat from the beach into the wolf of wallstreet.

Although I don’t want anyone to do it if Djokovic doesn’t do it, I agree it is completely possible that Alcaraz, Sinner, or another player will do it. Never is a long time, so I expect someone will do it eventually.

Too weak of a forehand. A non factor on outdoor hard court. I don’t see him reaching the number one ranking
Yeah, Rune forehand shouldn't be so weak, goes to show that not all straight arm forehands are great. Zverev forehand also lost a bit of spice once he switched to SA.

Novak almost did it a couple of time tho.
Yes but he was never really that close. Don‘t see it happening in our lifetime.

Such a player has to be the king of AO in the first place. Otherwise there arent many chances for pulling it off. Djokovic had 10 chances and missed all of them.
