Good post -- it is very tight. It depends on what you value more in achievements:
Zverev has one YEC, OG and a couple of masters over Medvedev and more overall titles.
Meddy has number 1 and slam finals over Zverev.
Medvedev has the higher peak arguably making deeper runs at slams and Zverev has the consistency and longevity over Medvedev.
I value #1 over the notable titles Zverev has over Medvedev but we're splitting hairs here. If Zverev adds a couple more big titles to his name it will be hard to keep him under meddy but for now I'm sticking with meddy by a hair because he did accomplish number #1.
Yeah I personally don't think that h2h is a major criterion. I think it can be used as a nice tie breaker if the players are very close in age and if they played important matches against each other.Good post -- it is very tight.
I'm surprised and a little happy that nobody (until right now) has mentioned their head2head record: Med leads 14-8.
In these type of debates, H2H does not figure into my decisions.
Zverev is the more consistent performer yes, but Medvedev performed better at the biggest stage which is slams.Zverev for me but it's obviously extremely close between the two in term of results. I think Zverev being able to confidently play on all surfaces with no whining is what puts him ahead, he doesn't cry like a baby about clay. He also has 5 slam R1 exits in his entire career, Medvedev has 5 in the last 3 years.
Medvedev easily.Who do you rank higher, Medvedev or Zverev now?
I mean, who has a better carier?
Thank you for your answer

One factor was on this finale the previos Djokovic-Zverev 5 sets match, i thinkCan you imagine Zverev in the 2021 USO final?
Djokovic would have had his CYGS.
Oh yes, true, I remember staying up late to watch it.One factor was on this finale the previos Djokovic-Zverev 5 sets match, i think
But Medvedev has arguably the higher peak level and was world number 1 and won his slam in a more impressive fashion beating an Atg. Medvedev has two Wimbledon semifinals and a masters title on clay, he does not suck on either, he is just nowhere near as elite on them as Zverev is on hard and grass.Zverev slightly! I think Zverev will put the debate beyond doubt soon too!
Zverev is better across more surfaces. Meddy was/is an elite HC specialist but sucked/still sucks on clay and grass.
True but I’m still giving the edge to Zverev slightly. But Medvedev has arguably the higher peak level and was world number 1 and won his slam in a more impressive fashion beating an Atg. I disagree, Medvedev was world number one and Zverev won his slam without beating a single top ten player. Zverev is great but Medvedev is ahead even now.Zverev at this point, and going by where they are in their careers and their performance in slams, who is better/greater between them will be pretty much undisputable when its all said and done
Yup agreed. And he made the GOAT cryI disagree, Medvedev was world number one and Zverev won his slam without beating a single top ten player. Zverev is great but Medvedev is ahead even now.
If Sinner plays the way he played yesterday, Z doesn’t have a chance.Medvedev beat Novak in straights, even if it was a jaded version of Novak. He still got it done without any fuss or mental lapse. On the other hand Z had literally one of the the easiest slam runs in the open era. He played nobodies all the way to the final. Tomorrow is his real test. Let’s see how he measures up.
