Who do you think is the most talented player on the tour?

Dimitrov

Rookie
I know that there are really talented players in the tour and there rankings don't show it, but who do YOU think is the most talented player? I don't think Nadal is one of those I mean he has some talent but I think his success is from his hard work on and off the court, I mean do you see how hard this guys work? He kills himself in practices and every match let alone points and look at Federer it looks like he isn't even trying for a point and he gets it with a snap of a finger. Another guy that I think is really talented is Murray, his results doesn't show it like Fed or Nadal but he hangs in there and I'm pretty sure he would be a grand slam champion if it weren't for Fed and Nadal. Also David Nalbandian hes really talented I mean look at that backhand, even Federer said that when he plays with him its very hard for him to keep up and doesn't know if he can keep up, which is amazing since Federer is one of the most talented player in history.

Here is my list
1. Federer
2. Murray
3. David Nalbandian

How about you?

Nadal. But I think Djokovic is the sharpest, clearly. Fundamentally, Djokovic is just doing the basics better than anyone at the moment.

federer
nalbandian
almagro (needs to venture out of clay courts more)
gasquet
tsonga
bhagdatis

also murray is becoming too passive, he cant just rely on his fitness against the top 3 guys. in the aus open final he never went down the line when he had djokovic on the ropes. he needs that killer instinct which i just dont think he has. a few years ago i thought he would be doing what djokovic is doing now....... but now im not sure he has it in him
just in terms of pure ball striking and creativivity

If we are just talking pure racket skills and leaving everything else out that makes up a player at the very top of the game.

Federer-Just happens to have everything else to go with his aptitude.

Nalbandian-ease of stroke production

Murray-natural feel and court sense

Tsonga-flair for the spectacular

Dolgopolov-totally unique, not what you would coach

Dimitrov-one handed backhand is not dead

In terms of natural talent for tennis:
1. Federer
2. Federer
3. Federer
4. Federer
5. Federer
6. Djokovic/Nadal/Murray
7. Nalbandian/Del Potro

For everyone else, it seems like hard work. For Roger, it seems like second nature. Say what you will about him being arrogant, selfish, at peak, off-peak, crybaby etc. etc. etc. but that dude was born to play tennis.

Have you ever watched Federer's interview with Charlie Rose from 2004? He said that the racquet feels like an extension of his arm and playing beach volleyball is always very awkward for him.

No, I haven't seen this interview, though I did see a later one in 2006-07 (I think). Don't really know what he said; my comment is just based on what I have seen of Federer and the rest of the tour, and with my experience of the difficulty of playing good recreational tennis for even a short length of time.

I'm sure people will construe this as my disparaging other people, but who cares? If I were asked to name the players with the top mental strength, at least the top three names have to be Nadal. So, these things even out.

seriously, most talented has to be Federer by far, don't understand how people can name Dolgopolov rofl

Because he has game.He has more shots at his disposal than the guys ranked 50 to 100 LOL!!!

Seriously from a tennis perspective he is very inventive,he sees the court in a different way and does it all with his own style of hitting.

Dolgo .....has a ways to go but, I like the kid.

He better find his way fast. He is almost 23 with no career titles and a .500 career W-L record in singles.

As for the bolded part, that is not necessarily a good thing. The same thing could be said about Fabrice Santoro.

Federer without a doubt. After that, i'd say Nalbandian and Murray. I'd also throw in Dolgopolov since his style is so unique.

Talent wise, Gulbis or Gasquet. The reason they haven't made it to the top is because they lack composure, and the other mental skills required to be a top player...
