Who do you think will win the women's title in Melbourne?

The women's draw is even more wide open than the men's.

There's plenty of players in with a chance - by my reckoning you've got 13 previous Grand Slam winners: Barty, Osaka, Krejcikova, Ostapenko, Azarenka, Kenin, Halep, Stephens, Raducanu, Muguruza, Swiatek, Stosur, Kerber.

There's 4 or 5 more GS finalists, a couple of Olympic Gold medal winners, 3 or 4 other "Premier 1000" champions, and that's not to mention some top players yet without a major title or final!

There's a least a dozen players who you could make a decent case for.

I want Barty to win, and she should win, barring any health issues and/or overwhelming local pressure.

My dark horse are Badosa and Muguruza. All the other ones have limitations, mental or physical. Regardless it will be an exciting tournament for the women.

Good question.

The WTA is so much different than the ATP in terms of elite players.

There is no BIG 1 or BIG 2 or BIG 3 in the WTA today.

There are 6-10 women who will likely share slams for the next few years at least.
I don't mind it at all. It's just the way life is.

No predictions who will win A.O. although I do have my faves.

I'd guess Barty. But it does seem wide open. It will be fun to see how it settles out.

I really don't know all the 'new' women contenders - the WTA had such bad television deals a couple years ago, they frankly fell off the map. Much will be a surprise.

Badosa and kontaveit have shown good form too.

Strange how sabalenkas serve fell away so much starting at the wta end of season finals and has continued this season. What's her coaching team been doing to address the issue?

I was hoping Jabeur would go somewhat deep, even if not winning the tournament, but she withdrew!

I'm rooting for Barty now.

Was hoping/thinking it was timed pretty perfectly for Badosa, but she looked like she got problems. Didn't stop her dishing out a bagel, but we'll see how it holds up with the adrenaline worn off. Her next couple of rounds are likely to make her work her ass off.

Mugu has to be the favorite to make the final from the other half of the draw.

And I have to be favored to suffer even more disappointment as a Mugu sympathizer for the past 6 years lol. Still, if she's ever going to win Australia the time is now. Monkey off her back with the WTA finals win, faster court, Krejcikova in QF/Sabalenka in SF… what could possibly go wrong?

Sofia Kenin probably, but she lost already

Barty, Osaka, Muguruza or Halep are probably my favourites.

Sabalenka's playing top 300 tennis right now, but knowing the WTA, she'll end up winning the event.
