Of these two players, who do WANT to win the French? Not who you BELIEVE will win or think should win.

Do you want to see Federer achieve the 4th, elusive Slam and improve on his chances of being confirmed the Greatest of All Time?

Or do you want to see Rafa make a clay career/season to rival Muster's and a French Open career to rival Guga's or even Borg's?

Between these two, Nadal. But, I have an ulterior motive. If Nadal wins, I get a set of 18 gauge natural gut (Rickson are you listening?).

Realistically, I would rather see a new face emerge, or an older face who hasn't won it. I would really like to see Coria put it together, he's got one of the best coaches around in Higueras, but I don't think he'll do it. Maybe someone else from Argentina.

Olivier rochus???? but seriously, nadal would win it...if its not him...maybe robrero....  or Puerta....

GAUDIO... i know its almost impossible but i would really love to he could pull it through again...

or calleri, but THATS 100000000000% impossible

CORIA!!!! :-)

Anyway..if this is a poll about wishes..who do we want to win, and not who has the most chance then where are the other options!? Jeez...most people really aren't big fans of either of the two, they just pick one of them cause they are the players with biggest chances of winning it.

I don't want any of the 2 mentioned in the poll to win it.

But yeah..out of the 2..voted Nadal.

Voted Nadal. Even if he doesn't win, he's the one I'd like to see in the final. And who do I want him to play there against (and hopefully lose to)?! Ivan Ljubicic!

If it's a matter of choice, I think Ljubicic is a good answer. But heh, I want all my favourites to win at least one slam. :)
But it's like dreaming Karlovic will win FO, and Bracciali win Wimby (although he's closer than Ivo winning RG)... or Coria winning FO, or Nalbandian winning any other slam... or Mario winning Wimby... Acasuso winning FO....

There are too many options. But if Daniele Bracciali wins Wimbledon, nor Coria wins Roland Garros, I can die peacefully then :)

Looking at the odds, its pretty remarkable how far ahead Fed & Nadal are. Everyone else in the draw is a huge underdog. It's like women's tennis from a few years ago, a huge dropoff from the top 2. I wouldn't count on a darkhouse winning this year, this isn't the 90s, when unknowns ruled.

It would probably be better for the game should Nadal win. When Sampras was dominating in '94, Agassi emerged as a challenger & helped boost the popularity of the sport worldwide. Nadal could do the same, if he starts doing consistently well in majors.

I wanna see Fed win RG for sure.Just too see what would happen if he came close to a GS.To see if the media would give it any attention.Especially in nyc at the U.S Open.

I WANT Fed to win, but I guess Nadal will do it again.
I agree with Moose Malloy in that the rest of the field is just too far away.

I'd like to see Rog get it an let all of the excitement die down. I think that + Nadal are the two things preventing him from getting it.

C'mon, we ALL know you just LOVE Federer deep down inside. :D

Just let it out. ;)

OMG! So, it's true? Oh no! Not Fed! Anyone but him, please! Now I'm heartbroken...

That guy Federer is like Borg - eventually we all get assimilated into liking him, the resistence is futile.

Federer will be running for World President in 2045 after WWIII unites all the world's countries into one single body and Swiss German becomes the world langauge. It'll bring a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Federer dominates the World". He will turn democracy into tyranny in the first two years after his election to office. The Crown Jewels in London will be replaced with Federer's Grand Slam trophies and a cow will become the world's symbol for peace.

His campaign slogan will be, "Swiss cheese is like my Mirka, you either like it or - or you don't - but they are both fatty". Btw, that will be the only thing allowed in English.

I'd like to see Federer win it, but I have an alterior motive. Are you listening, Rabbit? I'm getting a set of Babolat VS gut 16 out of this.

I want to see Federer cement himself as one of the greats by winning this. Nadal can win the next 5 French Opens, but let Fed have this one.

Although if I could choose one guy from the draw to win the tournament, it would be Safin. That would be incredible.

This is the only tournament I am actually rooting for Federer to win.

And if he gets it, he should agree to let Andy win Wimbledon this year. :)

Of these two, I want Federer to win. But I would really like to see Juan Carlos Ferrero get far in the tournament. I hope he makes a strong comeback.

between those two I'd say Federer. only cuz I wanna see him win all four majors in the same year.... he deserves the slam.
but I really want Gonzalez to win it.... I know, wishful thinking.

Roger for sure. Very rare chance to see an attacker win Roland (with one "l") and capture the four slams. Nadal will have many years to play his defensive loopy style on clay, nothing really fancy if he wins this one...

C'mon Mislav...I thought you knew me better ;) (I was just trying to make some Germans happy LOL) I still haven't been asimilated. If we stick together we can survive. :D

I have not been on this forum very long, but I am getting a little tired of all these Federer vs. Nadal threads/polls. I was hoping this was a real poll that would of course have those two, but also have a few other contenders, and maybe even some humor like being able to vote for Sampras.

Instead it is the same old Nadal vs. Federer, Federer vs. Nadal thread.

I'm surprised, that you're suprised by it! ;)

C'mon... DocAlex007 says you're a Fed fan, but we all know you're deep inside, a Nadalette.

There's no point on denying this any more!

Surprised is not the word I chose, it was instead tired. If the title of the thread is Nadal vs. Federer then I am only to blame for opening it, but I now avoid most of those threads. However, when it is an interesting poll/topic such as who will win the next slam, I'd like to think that the originator would have a little more imagination than just another Federer vs. Nadal poll/thread camouflaged as another topic .

Gustavo who?

Kidding, obviously.

You can be sure, if there is a poll about a tournament where both, Nadal and Federer are participating, the poll would be like 50% Federer, 46% Nadal and 4% others (if they even have this option), regardless of the question ;) - at least till the grass season starts...it is tiresome indeed, but to be expected.
So if you want a decent poll, make one yourself.

Got me worried for a sec. Gotta put more trust in you. And we'll survive. I'm sure of it. :D

You mean nice assonance? I am kidding.... I want Federer to win this tournament just for his sake.

see i look at it a different way. I wanna see federer win it for history's sake. I think it would be cool to be able to say, I saw someone win the french open over the greatest clay courter in history*, or i saw someone complete the grand slam. Once federer wins a french open, Nadal can win as many as he wants.

*implies that I believe Nadal will be the greatest clay courter in history.
