Who faced the strongest opposition in 3 slam winning years?

Who faced the strongest competition?

Still you have 2004 and>> it.

Meh, > or >> all the same. 2004 wasn't outworldly, but with very solid depth. Maybe the last year with strong clay field. No Nadal yet many lesser roadblocks at RG. 2/3 finals were underwhelming, but SFs/QFs were ok. Roddick the best runner up, could call him unlucky cause of rain.

2015 AO had an average Wawrinka and solid Murray, RG goating Wawrinka, W solid Fed and USO was meh. 2015 USO is Novak's great victory not because of competition but because on that day he slayed 20.000.

When i line my next thread i know who side you are on with the > and >> :D

Djoker 2011 takes this with Fed 2007 right behind. Fed 2004 is right behind that.

Ned 2010 brings up the rear here lol. But he played well in all three of his Slams wins so who cares? Fed 2006 comes second place but similar story there.

Best opponents any of these folks faced in Slams were, btw, 2004 USO Agassi, 2006-2007 RG Bull, 2007 Wimb Bull, 2011 RG and USO Fraud, and 2015 RG Stanimal

07 and 11 might be dead equal. Nadal of the RG 07 final was ridic so i think that edges it slightly in favour of 07.

Djokovic went through Tomic (who beat Davydenko)-Tsonga-Nadal to the trophy, whereas Fed went through Ferrero-Gasquet-Nadal. I think 2011 Nadal was also in great form, and the draw edges it to Wimbledon '11

Strong disagree.

In no way. Unless you think lots of players in 11 matched Nadal on clay and grass in 07.
I mean it's just not remotely close. I wasn't thinking to take into account losing efforts but even with that it's 2011 hands down. Not taking anything away from 07 Federer he was phenomenal and faced some tough opponents (mainly Nadal) but it's really not that close.

You can think that 11 was better but it is no where near trolling to vote against 11.

It's trolling. If you want to say 07 Federer was the better player that's not trolling. I disagree but an argument can be made for it. That he faced stronger competition is laughable. Sorry. I can't take you seriously if you genuinely believe that.

Okay say who was better RG 07 Nadal and Wimb 07 Nadal in 11 at those 2 events if this is true?

If you take losses into consideration, it brings 2007 back into the discussion because I'd rate 2007 RG Nadal over 2011 RG Nadal or Fed (same for the clay seasons as a whole). But I'd rather stick with the opponents those players did actually beat for this sort of comparison.

No one but Fed/Rafa as a duo are stronger than 07 RG Rafa and Rafa/Tsonga are stronger than just 07 Rafa. Then there's the massive gulf in the HC slams. Sorry but it's not close.

Tsonga beats Gas but 07 Nadal beats 11 Nadal and the final is more relevant . So that would make it 2 slams each. You could give it to 11 based on HC Slams but disagree it is the only possible option.

Nope it's the only possible option. Stronger at all 4 slams. Sorry but it's not close and you have revealed yourself as a troll.

I think we all know 2006 was the weakest BY FAR, but I'm intrigued by possibilities of 2007 v 2011

I see argument for Nole at 3/4 slams which seals it for him imo, but what about RG? Fed lost to Nadal in '07 whereas Nole lost to inspired Fed in '11

I agree 2011 is stronger, but I disagree with the bolded. You said that one tough opponent can make up for an otherwise easier draw and 2007 Rafa was certainly that kind of opponent. 2011 Nadal was worse than 2007 Rafa on grass, IMO.

Actually, USO is the only thing that gives 2011 Rafa the edge on HC, because on clay and grass 2007 Rafa was better as well as at the rest of the HC events save for perhaps Miami.

When I told you that 2005 USO was a stronger win than 2015 USO because of Hewitt + Agassi, you disagreed and said that it was not because 2015 Fed alone made up for the rest of Novak's draw. You can't change your stance now when it comes to 2007 Wimb vs 2011 Wimb.

The difference between 2011 and 2007 Rafa on grass is not as vast as the gulf between 2015 Maturederer and immobile Agassi+Hewitt

Simply put, if I was a competitive top player and I wanted to win a Grand Slam, I'd definitely wanna face two great opponents rather than just one godmode opponent. When you're 2007 Nadal on clay and grass, there aren't many ways you can cancel that kind of performance out aside from finding one singular player who had as good of a match. Or blatant trolling. You could go that route too.

also, Tsonga and 2011dal over 2007dal (even if combined) at Wimby? Now that is trolling of the highest order. I probably shouldn't even say "of the highest order" because it's not even that good.

I do think one tough opponent can make up for it and 07 Rafa is certainly that type of opponent. I consider 07 W stronger than 05 W on that basis (Nadal>Hew/Rod). However, I'm of the opinion that Federer makes Rafa look slightly better than he is on grass and Djokovic especially in 2011 did the opposite. Still as you said 07 Rafa> 11 Rafa however that gap isn't big enough that adding Tsonga, who was spectacular in 2011, doesn't close it. Tsonga was broken once in a 5 set match versus a 29 year old Federer and played 11ovic very closely for four sets. He was awesome. You tout Roddick for only getting broken twice in 09 you have to give Tsonga some credit for how great he was in 2011. Having one stronger player can make up the difference but it just depends on who the players are and in the case I think the two are stronger but to be fair it is close and I don't fault you for disagreeing (if you do I can't tell).

As far as my comment on the HC majors being stronger that wasn't a comment on Rafa it was generally speaking. The 2011 HC field in slams especially was much better than it was in 2007. That's what I meant.

Also, perhaps Miami. Really? I think you can make a case for that being Rafa's single best BO3 HC match. Comparing it to 07 Miami Rafa is embarrasing. If you're trying to convince me 07 Rafa is prime Rafa there's no need. I'm not on the 07 Rafa is baby Rafa train. That's squarely prime. You don't need to resort to ridiculousness to change my mind.

Well, 2009 Fed was better than 2011 Fed, so that's why Tsonga looked so good mainly.

As for Rafa on HC, yes, 2011 Miami was Rafa's best BO3 HC event indeed. I'm just saying that in general, he was better than 2007 Rafa on HC only thanks to the USO.

Also, at least 2011 AO is comparable to 2007 USO among the HC majors.

2010 probably the toughest year competition wise. Peak Djokovic peak Murray 70 per cent Federer, peak Del.Potro, wawrinka, ferrer, it was a pretty stacked year.depth wise. Oh Nadal was not bad either.

Well I guess you are bitter towards Federer then to admit it is not at least a debate.

Strong disagree again.
Drop Gasquet and 2007 Nadal is still harder than having to play both SF to F. I’d much rather play two of those kinds of players than face just one of 2007 Nadal. Playing just one GOATing opponent is a better test of strength than facing multiple good-but-not-particularly-great opponents, and I don’t see how that’s even up for debate.

I don’t see the point any more tbh. Obviously bitter towards to claim Djokovic had it harder at every slam and it is not even close.
