Looking back at tennis in the COVID years, the NextGen was agreed to be Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Rublev taking over from the Big 3. Ruud and Berrettini in and around there, and then obviously Djokovic and Nadal. Rafa has now retired, but the rest are still playing, with Zverev just losing a crucial Slam QF.

YE top 5 in 2021: #1 Djokovic, #2 Medvedev, #3 Zverev, #4 Tsitsipas,#5 Rublev, #7 Berrettini #8 Ruud

Rankings as of today in 2025:
#3 Zverev
#5 Djokovic
#11 Medvedev (no titles in a year)
#15 Rublev
#16 Ruud
#26 Tsitsipas (yikes)
#28 Berrettini

The nextgen didn’t fall very far because Danny boy (briefly) aside, they never ascended the mountain, they got stuck above base camp. But they still fell further than the old explorer who remains up there, looking down on them from his alpine seat.

Med has fallen off the most, but current day Medvedev is still more likely to win a major than any of those other players except Novak BigTitlesVic imo, which is scary.

It's strange to say this because of how overall consistent he has become at the hardcourt and clay majors, but Zverev to me looks less likely to win a major now than he did 5 years ago because we have the data on the holes in his game and how unable/unwilling he is to fix them.

Tsitsipas and Medvedev are borderline former players. They have been completely irrelevant for a long time.

Zverev has been typical Zverev troughout 2024. So far he's been dogshit in 2025 just like Med and Citrus.

All I think are obsolete players now in terms of comparisons to the New Gen as they simply don't hit big enough off both wings but clearly Djokovic is way ahead of the Lost Gen and for all his diminished powers now, he still at least has an elite IQ tennis brain. The Lost Gen have zero tennis IQ

Did you see his RG 2021 level? It was insanely good. Took a 2 set lead on prime Djoker. . And he was only 21 or something. I figured he would have snatched at least 2 RGs and maybe an AO
If you compare GOATsipas 2021 RG final with Clownsipas 2023 AO final that was a pretty big drop. He was never winning either final against Djokovic, but at least in the RG final he put himself in a winning position.

Ruud is seventh in the live race though and just won his first masters 1000, so I would not say he got much worse if at all.

Djokovic has fallen very much but still not big enough. He is just so so old that he doesn't give his all out of slams.

When he is in slams , he has fallen much lesser.

Just reached rg semis with 1 set loss. I think he is being underestimated now with just 19% odds given. Sinner is not alcaraz. Djokovic should be about 35% but that's what has happened.

Grok gives sinner 55 and nole 45. I am not that brave. I give sinner 65 and nole 35.

But oddsmakers just give 19 % to nole. That is a shame and very similar to Olympics odds which undermined nole.

It's a smart move by the oddsmakers. They are going to lure people in by setting that margin. A lot of people will take the plunge on that thinking they are getting good value on Djokovic who is such a great big match player, but at the end of the day it's a poor bet. Great as Djokovic is, there is just no way he is going to clear Sincaraz back to back, but there will punters who will ignore the long game because they have fixated on the juicy odds they can get on Djokovic.

the answer has to be djoker coz all others had almost reached the bottom in 2021. the distance from then and now is too minimal
