Who has received his/her pre-ordered RF 97 AUTOGRAPH?

Mine is supposed to get in tomorrow, and I'm unbelievably excited. It's just gonna be a supreme struggle sitting through my history lecture in the morning, knowing that it'll be sitting there, waiting for me.

How do you guys buy and switch racquets without even trying it out...?
For me it's a bit of a gamble, but the RF97 is somewhat similar in specs to the Juice Pro, which I used for a few years, and I have a great deal of experience with Pro Staffs in the past. I don't know if I'll like it for sure, but if I do, sweet, if not, I have a small piece of history, and that's pretty cool.

I wish TW wouldn't whack us on shipping fees to Canada - that said I'll probably combine a few purchases to make it worthwhile

Got my two Sunday afternoon.......strung one up late that night and played yesterday.

Tried the gut/poly hybrid at 58lbs and will look at stringing #2 with a full set of Origin at 60lbs.

The demos I tried were strung with 4G and the other RPM Blast.........both felt great.
Can't wait for the 5/8 coming in a few months!!!!!

When I played on Sunday morning the guy on the next court was using one. Easy 4.5 player with a wicked one handed backhand, it sure sounded good when he hit the ball.

RUC - did you say 5/8 (G5) coming out next month? Has Wilson changed their minds?
Yes, Wilson decided to produce 4 5/8 grips after reading all the complaints about not having it on this board. But they will not hit the store shelves for a couple of months. Wilson loves TTW! :)

Well I love buying Wilson player frames in 4 5/8 and complaining....just seemed like a natural fit for me.

Have they read about all the complaints about not having a proper 6.0 lineage BOX BEAMED frame? And the only box beamed frame is a stupid lightweight with a string shredding "Spin" pattern?

Got mine yesterday. I used TW's service to request a 330 gram frame or as close to it as possible since that's what my old Volkl X10Mid weighed. And TW delivered-- 330g exactly once I removed the plastic over the grip.

Without the plastic is 330 g, anyway you can check your balance?

Or what was the balance written in the handle by TW

I think mine will be around 330 or 332 without the plastic but around 9 hl and i think i will and weight in the butt to match the 12 hl

How do you even make trying out meaningful?

Do you cut out the demo string and put on your own string, tension, and then play extensively allowing your body to adapt and judge?

I never understand demo!

Wow, that's quite a bit lighter than spec (340g).

uhm, yes.
Would much rather pay $12 for the strings than make a $200 mistake...

Cancelled my pre-order since Federer lost so badly in the Open. No, actually I am happy with my current racquet so not looking to switch, and just ordered another PS 95 2014.

That's why I buy used frames, install my own strings, lead it to the way I want, and try it out for as long as I want.

Got mine today!

Can't wait to see what all the fuss is about!
Just finished my 3 hour hitting session.

Mine spec'd out pretty much with the manufacturer's specifications however with a slightly more HL balance than 9 pts HL which made it super easy to accelerate on contact (even easier than my lighter H22).

Concerning the paintjob, I LOVE IT! The shade of red is perfect and it's matte all around the racquet. PeterFig you rock!

My hitting partner actually said that I hit better than usual today! I didn't tell him I had a new racquet and he didn't notice! Lol

I'm extremely pleased with the RF97A. Kudos to TW!!!

Would be interested to know how you like this racquet at 330 grams after playing with it. Weight, balance, control, feel, etc. Thanks!

Just received my pre-strung frame and I would say my PS85 is noticeably heavier in comparison. I'm hitting today after work and will post my review!

Received both of mine today. I ordered a matched pair in 4 1/4 grip. I requested the lightest and most headlight possible.

The specs are not exactly the same because I ordered one with Tourna Poly Big Hitter Silver Rough String 17 and one with Tourna Poly Big Hitter Black 7 String 17.

There was a label on the shrink wrap handle that says "Matched Unstrung with shrink wrap on handle".

Those stats as stated on the label are (identical for both racquets):

Static Weight: 11.92oz
Balance Point: 10.5 HL
Swingweight: 304

I took the weights and balance of both (with the shrink wrap still on) and I got:

Static Weight: 352g w/ BHB7, 351g w/ BHSR
Balance: 9HL w/ BHB7, 10HL w/ BHSR
I do not have a way to measure swing weight, but from just swinging them around they feel about the same.

I would have to say that the racquets were matched pretty well.

I'll be playing after work, so we'll see how it goes.

No problem. I strung with Wilson Natural Gut 16 in the mains, and Luxilon 4G 125 in the cross. Added an overgrip and dampener and the weight came to 354 grams. I only hit for about 45 min to an hour but you definitely are aware of the weight. It didn't feel slow or cumbersome to me at all and but you do feel like you have to swing it. It's very difficult when I was late or behind in my swing. Hard to catch up and flick the wrist to dip the ball when your opponent comes in. But at the same time that weight absorbs pace very well. Also, there is very little vibration transmitted to your arm. I agree with what others were saying about the stiffness; although that rating was a 68 it actually does feel very plush (my string setup probably helped though). Again, I only hit with it for a short time (just barely enough to start finding the sweet spot) but this was my initial reaction.

This is like one of those crazy internet stock IPOs.
I will wait for a couple of months and pick one at 40% discount.

Got my 2

I just received mine today!

The specs (with wilson pro-overgrip and sampras 0-dampener):

364 grams
10 points HL

Both have the identical weight and balance (thank you TW matching!), which is also exactly like my K90's. As an aside, my BLX 90's (red/black original) are all around 360-362 and 9 points HL.

I won't have a chance to play with them for a few weeks due to work and travel (shoot!), but just hitting the ball with them in the living room I'm finding it hard to believe they are any stiffer than the 6.1 series. They both feel substantially more plush than my old K95's and the throat provides quite a bit more feedback. The throat is definitely longer than the 6.1, but it looks a tad shorter than what's on my Blade 93. This is definitely it's own mold and feel. For 85/90 users wanting a larger head size, this seems to be the best option. Time will tell (for me) if I actually make the switch.

Swinging them without hitting the ball: they do feel a tad more substantial than the 90's, but not as much as I would have thought given all the feedback. I absolutely love the weight of them and am glad Wilson kept the 90 specs.

I'll write back in a few weeks when I've had a chance to hit with them.

You sure are a crybaby.

Wilson made the frame for Federer, not you and a small cadre of other dead-enders. Let the people who enjoy the frame enjoy it without your stupid snarky whining.

Mine came in today and took them straight out for a hitting session. My thoughts mirror a lot of what's already been said. Heavy, stable, good at net, love hitting 1hbh with it.

So far, so good. I am a 4.5 with pretty standard technique (not sure how it will fare for guys who like to hit like they're trying to tear a ligament). I think I will keep my six.one 95s' in the bag for a while.

Weight as they showed up from TW (L4 grip). I did request a matched pair and the other was 359 grams.

With a super grap overgrip, band, and vibe damp. Ready to hit.

Looking goooood. Of course I had to get one strung up with champion's choice at 59/56 just like the golden eagle himself.

I got my pair of RF 97A today. Both were L3.

With plastic on grips only: one was 339g and the other was 343g. So they are both below spec. I think that would be alright. I would prefer them on the lighter side than overweight...

Gonna string them up this weekend.

Cry babies are those who want a Pro Staff but can't handle an 85 or a 90 square inch head.
