Zverev and Berrettini are quite obviously preferable options. Who would you choose for Djokovic in SF and QF by the way?
OK, if you pick Zverev and Berrettini, then for me that increases the chances for a Fedal semi final. I think Thiem and Tsitsipas are the more likely ones to stop Federer earlier on at AO. I guess the question then is, Federer or Medvedev?

For me, I would like Zverev, Berrettini also over Thiem and Tsitsipas. I would also prefer Medvedev to Federer in the semis. I know Medvedev is tough, but Fedal fighting each other could be emotionally draining.

Who does Nole have most to fear?

I felt that Medvedev had a real chance to defeat Nole at AO 2019 but wasn't physically up to the task. Djokovic wasn't yet in form by that match. Novak has never had an easy time with Daniil like he did when he obliterated Stefanos in Paris.

If Thiem can perform like he did at Nitto he can beat anyone, but that's obviously a huge if. He had a very underwhelming ATP Cup showing.
I actually was present at the Note/Tsitsipas match in Paris. The Greek just wasn't there. He signed off at 30-0 in the first game.

I agree Federer and NAdal would most likely lose v Djkovic - problem is some new chump will do Nadal a huge favour and beat Djokovic for him ... meanwhile he will destroy said chump 3-0 in the final - or other chump that beats chump #1.

I can see Nadal winning this tournament without dropping a set ... get $$ on him, he's at 5.5!!!
Are you mad? Deluded, certainly

The Stanimal in the QF against Djokovic = fireworks!!! A winnable match for the Stanimal, especially if he goes into 2.0 mode !!!

Truly believe he could lose at any point to anyone that is having a hot day, as we have seen before. If he is not mentally engaged, he could easily lose to many players. However, I dont see him losing to anyone because he will be fully engaged in my opinion.

I think Rafa would have won the ATP Cup if Djokovic's fluky shot in the tiebreaker didn't hit the top of the net and bounce over Rafa's head.
A very lethargic Rafa (so lethargic he refused to play the doubles) was up a mini-break until then, so I think Rafa would have won that tiebreaker and the 3rd Set.
And I think once Rafa wins a set he'll win the rest of the match too, so if Rafa wins a set in the AO Final he'll win the whole thing, because of the pent-up revenge :)
we all know by now that Rafa is the moral winner of ATP Cup, WTF 2019 and AO 2019.

The last time Federer beat Djokovic on a hard court in a Bo5 was 2009. His only win over Djokovic at the AO was 2007. He's not beaten Djokovic at all in a slam since 2012. On the big stage, Djokovic always delivers and has him figured out.
I guess the Wimbledon 2019 was a very clear, one way match, with absolutely no chances for Roger.

Basically anyone has a chance to beat him(except Nishi)in 3R~QF.Novak often had most problems at that stage of the tournament.

Can't believe Wawrinka has so few votes. Is he injured or something? If he is fit, he has got best chance to beat Novak.

Will you ever get tired of writing this BS? The whole forum is laughing at your ridiculous comments.
The vast majority of this forum mistakenly thought Djokovic would finish 2019 ranked #1 and win the US Open and London.
Hope they keep it up :)
The majority of people in every forum = Losers.
I never get tired of being The Winner.

Excellent post @weakera . The only player who has a chance (A VERY SMALL ONE) is Medvedev.

Rest of the field has ZERO CHANCE. Unless Novak is injured.

To me it seems, the only thing that can stop Djokovic is injury. I don't think anyone can play tennis at the level needed to take 3 sets off Djokovic in AO.

Wawrinka for sure. Djokovic has a mental block against him in slams.

Other than that, Medvedev has a decent chance, because he's the only guy on the tour who can match Djokovic at the baseline. Some of the other Next Gen players have a chance if they serve well and put in an inspired performance.

Federer and Nadal don't stand a chance. Djokovic has them both figured out.
Wawrinka is Stan the old and Fat man. He is way way way past his best tennis.

Agree with the rest. Especially the underlined.

But who does Nadal want in his half...Federer or Medvedev? Who would you want there?
Wow. That's a tough one. Nadal being Nadal would probably think he has a better chance against Medvedev.
I don't think Rafa can beat Federer at the AO. We saw what happened in AO 2017 and since then Fed's gotten better and racked up quite a few wins against Nadal. Actually Nadal hasn't even won a set against Fed in HC matches since AO 2017.
At least against Medvedev, Nadal still has a chance, however small.

That being said, Novak would love to have Fed in his half, as he would prefer to face Fed than Medvedev in the SF.

I envision a Novak vs Medvedev AO 2020 final.

So you would rather have Medvedev in Nadal's half then?

you must've been in hibernation during USO 2019 :-D
Well, that was one tournament. And Stan lost tamely after beating Novak.
Have you seen Stan after that? He's done NOTHING. And is out of shape.
Stan is getting older, he won't even get to Novak in the AO. And if he is NOT in Novak's quarter, someone else will take the Swiss out.

But yeah, a peaking Stan and a rampaging Medvedev are the only 2 players who might have a small chance against Djokovic. Rest of the field - no chance.

For Nadal's chances, to get to the final, absolutely. Fed being in Nadal's half would mean Nadal loses in the SF or before.
Ironically with Medvedev being in Nadal's half, increases Novak's chances to get to the final.

Imagine this:

Fed in Nadal's half. Beats Rafa in 4 in the SF and gets to the final.
Medvedev beats Novak in 5 epic sets and gets to the final.
Fed beats Medvedev in 3 in the final.

So, for you, better for Nadal to play Medvedev to make the final, even if it means that also increases Djokovic's chances to make the final also.

Tough question. Everyone will be an underdog against Novak but some players have bigger outside chance than others: Nadal, Federer, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Thiem, Wawrinka, maybe Kyrgios too are among those with highest chance to down Djokovic.

I like Djokovic and would want him to win as well obviously. And obviously, if I'm backing Nadal, I'd want him to go as far in the tournament as possible.
Even a straight set loss in the final is better than a SF loss.

Novak has become Nadal like back in the day. The tennis world has ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of beating him....unless he loses.
Not true. Tennis world has a chance of beating Novak for sure.
All we are saying is that Novak is the favorite as the AO. He's won 7 titles including last year when he won the final in straights.
Historically he's lost AO only when he is injured or he is in a slump.
The surface seems tailor made to suit Novak's game. It doesn't favor big servers, it doesn't take spin, medium fast court with sliding potential. All experts say Novak would be favored here.

So yeah, Djokovic can absolutely be beaten. But of course it is unlikely unless someone plays the match of their lives.

Then why do you begin all of your statements with hyperbole, only to qualify them later?

Federer and Nadal don't stand a chance. Djokovic has them both figured out.
I'm not sure if being figured out is perfectly defined by stretching 2 out of last 3 matches to the absolute brink (choking TBs in both) and Winning the remaining one by blasting opponent off the court in straights.

Federer beat Novak last match they played though.
