It's very common these days to see players staying back, exchanging ground strokes with almost no intention to move forward.
In the old days, it's almost the opposite with plenty of net rushers.

I still think the best way to win matches is to be aggressive and move forward when the opportunity arises.

Transition game to a large extent is dead and buried these days as the days of serve and volleying are not there anymore

the way these people play it is all baseline bashing and passing at the net

hence no incentive to come in

hence no good transition game
