Let's take take into account their height difference at the start in this analysis. Del Potro has an obvious advantage here but my question is just on their serve technique.

Both big servers but not great servers. Both have the platform stance, similar swing to trophy position and minimal jump. The major difference I can see is that Del Potro has the racket lag hence has a higher toss whereas Wawrinka doesn't have that lag.

Who has the better serve technique?

I'm tempted to say Del Potro... but he gets injured a lot in the wrists, and a lot of that might have something to do with the serve. Wawrinka doesn't get arm injuries, he gets leg injuries... that could be serve related too... I feel like they're pretty equal to be honest.

Del Potro doesn't have technique that is bad for the wrists. He just has ridiculously stiff wrists, which is why he can hit his forehand so hard the way that he hits it. He doesn't need a ridiculous wiper motion to maximise wrist lag, he can just hit a straight arm forehand cause his wrist snaps back violently anyway

Wawa pound for pound or in this case inch by inch (since Delpo is 6 inches taller) has the better serve. For as tall and strong Delpo is, his serve is somewhat underwhelming.

I find Wawrinka has horrible technique on everything but his backhand, and even that is questionable. It is amazing how effective he is with his strange technique. His super stiff forearm and elbow technique on both the serve and forehand drives me nuts.

Idk why the poll is so even. Delpo def has better technique. Delpo has better rotation and load up and has what we would more or less call a traditional motion. Stan looks very stiff and his back foot comes past parallel with his front foot when he steps which means he's probably more open than he should be. He's very strong so these things don't matter much to him, but these would be issues for a weaker junior player.

Delpo's fast twitch muscles work fine on those 110 mph forehands ;)
It's possible you have a point. I couldn't find anything on whether different fast twitch muscle fibers are being used on serve vs forehand. Don't know why you decided there was a need for a wink emoji .

Relax man...life's too short to get upset over an emoji.

Think he just has incredibly stiff wrists/underarm, so you store more energy in the same around of racket lag. Wawrinka hits much more on upper body/muscular strength.
