Who is becoming bored senseless of clay court tennis?

TTW logic:
1. There are too few grass court events
2. About 1/3 of the year is clay, 2/3 is hard
3. Solution: get rid of/reduce clay events

I don't think thats my logic at all. I have stated that we have two hardcourt majors. To me 4 hardcourts masters is logical. We have one clay major. Two clay majors are logical. We have one grass court major. Two grass court masters would be logical.

the actual tennis being played during the clay masters has been, for the most part, far higher level and more interesting than miami, indian wells and the aussie open this year.

anyway, RG starts in a bit and after that you won't see clay for a while so enjoy it for the next couple of weeks.

they need to get rid of a few hardcourt 500s and turn them into grass. also, there needs to be at least one grass atp 1000. there are too many miscelaneous slow hardcourt tournaments on the tour generally speaking.

Exactly, and has been said... Clay tennis practically a year round event. Take a hardcourt and clay masters and turn them to grass before Wimby. Makes perfect sense. this wasnt a problem when grass was the preferred surface for 75 percent of the year, thats changed and now the indoor carpet is gone too, a change is needed to balance things out.

I think Stuttgart is turning their clay into a grass event for men, so that a step in the right direction. And there will be an extra week between RG and Wimby that year as well. Like I said they lay down blue clay at Madrid they can lay down grass. Yea it will cost more but put that Madrid in front of Wimby and attendance will be much better. I like the clay season but I think two masters for clay is enough. I am not on here saying anything except make one hardcore masters grass and one claycourt masters grass. I think that would be perfect. And you know maybe thats a way for Hamburg to get back its masters event. They have great weather for grass. If madrid doesn't change they can steal it from them.

The general consensus here is that there is not enough grass court events.

- The game was founded on it
- There are crap all grass court events
- Grass court tennis is its own beast, just like clay court tennis

So to the ATP people - lets see more grass court events!!!!!!!!!!

ATP people are stingy as f**k so you will not see more grass anytime soon. The reason why HC became prevalent was because it is so cheap to lay and maintain.

The only reason why natural surfaces exist is because of the traditionalism that surrounds Wimbledon and RG. If the TD's had their way the tour would probably be 100% HC. It would certainly cut costs for them.

There has been more winners in Madrid, Rome and Monte Carlo than in IW and especially Miami...

Miami was probably slower than MC, that's why even Ferrer started cramping in a 3 setter...

Grumbling about clay court tennis is definitely a first world problem.

If tennis matches are going too long for the OP, then I suggest they become a fan of darts...or perhaps bocce.

If MC was played in the heat and humidity of Miami that would not be the case.

I agree with this completely. This year's clay tournament has featured the best matches and some of the most surprising upsets of the season.

I look forward to the grass season starting in mid July. But clay is my second favorite and this year has been excellent, looking forward to RG

Clay is a great surface and produces the most interesting tennis of the year, along with the grass. It is hardcourt tournaments I find boring, indoors even more so.
