I'm ready. Crazy good at dispatching opponents he should beat on paper, probably one of the best on tour at this but as soon as he sees a top player on the other side of the net something goes wrong. It's hard to pin point what it is as he has crazy good athleticism and all round game but maybe he lacks grit, confidence and killer instinct. He is just not cut out for winning the hard matches.

At least he isn't as mentally weak as he once was. Don't see him choking a lot of easy break/set/match points like he would a few years ago. But he still needs to get mentally tougher to beat the top guys. I remember hearing he was something like 2-20 against top 10 players in the past few years, his two wins coming against hurkacz and fritz last year

I am afraid he would make the final and choke it fed style and it would break my heart

Idk, this year he turned it to another level, especially earlier this year in Brisbane and Miami. Sinner has gotten him a good bit when they met. Let’s see how this turns out then we can be disappointed even more lol

That's true, his match against alcaraz at Miami was amazing, probably the closest we will ever get to federer v alcaraz. Hopefully someone can beat sinner... then Grigor full send lol

The good thing about Dimitrov is his name also starts with the letter D. So whenever I think of the word disappointment it just kind of goes hand in hand and I don't have to exhaust any mental energy.

Guys, are you ready?
Ready for Dimitrov to retire? He could certainly justify it -- going out on a relatively high note after a solid 2024, with his first tournament title since 2017 (albeit a 250), a trio of other finals (in which he was crushed, unfortunately), and a couple of respectable slam showings. He won't qualify for Turin unless both the Djoker and another player pull out. (Isn't it weird to win the tour finals in the first and only appearance in one's entire career? Nadal must be scratching his head.) Still, he'll probably come back in 2025 anyway, but if so I imagine the considerations will be largely financial. 2017 was by far his best year and it's increasingly distant. If he keeps playing, soon he won't even be making the quarters/semis he's still mustering.
