Safin.

He single-handedly crash landed a plane in China back in 1945 (he's older than we realise), saving everyone on board using nothing more than a hand crafted knife fashioned out of recycled materials from the bayonet he pulled out of his own chest and part of his hip bone, and his moustache, and then impregnated every Chinese woman he could find.

Thus resulting in China's post-war population explosion.

Federer is not the GOAT, I thought it was clear as a day now, right? I mean all the hating you have been doing, Nadal has to be the GOAT now and he indeed looked like a sissy next to Delpo

find a post of mine where i say Nadal is the GOAT and i will buy you croissants everyday :D

I didn't say that you called Nadal the GOAT, but surely after your hate campaign against Federer how can he be the GOAT? You emphasize all of Federer's downfalls and act like he is a worse person than Hitler...Surely, Saint Rafa is the GOAT now.

i said many times that his 302 weeks as number 1 are the most impressive record, Nadal won't even come close to this... Nadal can get 17 GS though but by now there is only one GOAT: Roger :p

And you would most likely need a trip to the gyno to treat the std's you caught from him. Safin was disgusting, dirty looking, and was a walking advertisement for Valtrex. His sexiness is vastly overrated.

That had me ROFL. Posts like this almost compensate for the regular stuff you post about Nadal .

No Haas in the poll ?

He shouldn't be included in the poll either. The guy is a whiner and the opposite of tough.

However, come to think of it, what is this poll asking? Are we talking about looks or toughness? I was thinking about the latter and that is why Safin leading the poll makes no sense to me.

For me manhood is more about attitude, but look can contribute of course

That's why so far the best example IMo is Max Mirnyi

"Pete Sampras - You knew this was coming. The slam dunk smashes say more than words ever could. Refused to grind/push, would tank unneeded return games. Massive serve, gorilla-like posture but with chest hair said gorilla could only envy."

lol. Good writing by the OP even if we don't agree with everything. I only started following tennis in 2003 when Fed came around. From what I've seen and heard, and by vote count, Safin wins. (even a girl admits to here in a reply she would give in to him). This guy looked like he belongs in the ring or octogon, or maybe one of the Old Spice manly commericials, and quite charismatic in his post game interviews. But I'm also intrigued by old school Gonzalez who probably was more a brute (if that is considered manly) than any of these guys and would club them all with his serves. Thanks for the laughs guys..

Oh the pic of Roger "Fabulous".. Roger is off the list for sure with his diva lifestyle. But still the Goat.

That is because he has a stammering problem. He was very open about it.

really ? i didn't know that
that's probably why he left straight away after beating Blake at the US open, i think a man came to him with a micro but he left lol
Good to know :) i like this guy by the way he seems to be a good person

The Beast plays mixed doubles. By definition, he cannot be manly.

For that matter, anyone who plays doubles cannot be manly.

What about the most interesting man in the world, Domond Lee (LeeD on TT) who exclusively plays doubles (although at the 4.5-5.5 level)?

by the way, I remember when he played with Azarenka the olympics, she was so annoying, every point she was winning she was fist pumpig at herself, such a selfish way to celebrate, usually double players share with their teammate...

I think he mentioned that in a Sue Barker interview. It seems he is an inspiration to many. Because of that issue, organizers know not to bother him for interviews and the ATP doesn't penalize him.

At last! a fun thread everyone can enjoy.

I would throw Jim Courier in the mix, not as the most manliest but definitely used to get worked up a lot. Like this video shows:

What about Ivan Lendl? I know he could whine from time to time but I thought he was quite manly. Definitely agree with Sampras, especially when he did the old Miles Davis thing of wiping the sweat off his forehead with his thumb. I would also mention Pat Rafter, a fighter to the end and never carried on or complained like a baby. Also, special mention must go to Thomas Muster, he is in his own category the way he came back, I always remember Vitas Gerulaitis saying you wouldn't want to meet Muster at night in a dark alley.

Today's guys? Would go with Tsonga. But one guy I cannot go with is Novak Djokovic, I have watched him smash too many times now, he smashes like a woman

This is an easy, obvious choice: VITAS!
