Who is the most prestigious ATP 500

While talking almost always about Grand slams,Masters, and ATP Finals the ATP 500 are left in shadow. There are many great events but who you consider the most prestigious-historical Queens and Hamburg, always strong tournament like Barcelona or a new modern like China open?

I don’t think it’s a straightforward answer considering Queens was just upgraded to 500 status in the last half decade. Barcelona is basically considered the Spanish national championship and in some ways is seen as more prestigious than MS1000 Madrid. Dubai is up there with it’s usually strong field and top notch facilities. I think all 3 of those tournaments have an argument for most prestigious 500.

Barcelona and Dubai.
And lol at people saying Queens, when top players don't even prefer it now over Halle.
While in Barcelona and Dubai many big player plays.
Same with China open , many years Djokovic ,Rafa , Andy used to play

Basically mostly there are two ATP 500s in a week. The one that draws more top players than the other is the biggest one. Infrastructure and players facility too plays an important role.
Dubai,China,Halle,Basel and Rotterdam too used have strong fields.

Rotterdam is easily my favorite 500 tournament. Anyone who has attended knows what I’m talking about.

“Prestigious” - dependent on the field but agreed with the general names.

Dubai, Queens, Barca top 3, after that Rotterdam, after that not sure.

I’ve done some digging and apparently according to the fans and general tennis experts, Queens and Dubai are practically tied for first place with a slight nod to Queens as being the most prestigious. Barcelona was ranked 3rd

The LEAST prestigious ones (Imo)
- Rotterdam
- Rio
- Hamburg
- Washington
- Vienna

In the middle
- Acapulco
- Halle
- Basel
- Barcelona
- Tokyo

The 3 most prestigious (tied)
- Dubaï
- Beijing
- Queen's

Historically it was Queens. It was the lead in tournament to the most presigious tournament in the world.

Now both are far less important and I'd give the nod to Halle, which is the closest we still have to a proper grass tournament.

I think Rio & Hamburg are in a class of their own due to the timing of the surface imo. I don't think there's a tournament with less hype than Hamburg these days.

Dubai on top and maybe Beijing is next. Can’t be Queens when the Big 3 rarely play it.

Prestige to me means history, significance of name on the trophy, general place in the sport of the tourny. Dubai and Beijing and just a lure because of money, they have none of the other things.

That's why Queens was important. Didn't matter what the prize money was or even who did or didn't show. But when Wimbledon didn't play like every other hard court on tour, the players did show.

I know you hate the grass court season and probably love that Wimbledon doesn't play like grass any more, but Halle is now the last link we have to a rich history of lawn tennis. And that trumps some oil sponsored thing in the desert.
