I joined TTW in November 2017. Since then I have encountered the name of 90s Clay on numerous occasions; mostly as a ridicule by the current users. But never quite understood why it is so.

So who is/was '90s Clay'? What's his/her legacy on TTW?

Apparently he was a Sampras fan who was half a Nadal fan but solely because of Federer dislike. The famous No Excuses thread was supposedly a declaration that whoever won AO 17 was, without question, the GOAT.

I'm told Federer fans should regret his passing since whenever he predicted Fed would do badly he won.

He is busy working as a Patrick Star mascot

Nobody could make posting on TTW look so effortlessly easy. Beauty at its most raw. Ironically to him he is the Federer of TTW.

This is a bit over-the-top, to put it mildly.

He was a good troll, a prolific writer, someone with energy to "keep it up" and kind of a fool, if you are idiotic enough to take this place seriously. Other than the repetition (which was extreme) I miss him, having been a reader here for a decade and a member for far less. But he was a character.

In the rankings, I put him up there in the Wilander range. Nothing special, very consistent, a bit boring, but he could wear people down. The shear number of posts (balls hit back) was quite astounding. That is his true legacy IMHO. He had a certain charm that, sadly, wore off quickly, but then you missed him if he didn't come around for a while.

Sadly, he got into fights and here is where everything broke down or, perhaps better put, this is where the action really was. I don't know. I am sure he deserves a medal, however, if only for sticking with it.

ROFLMAO. There are NO EXCUSES for not knowing about 90s Clay's legacy!

Guy coulda been the best troll ever, but lacked the killer instinct against his rivals. 0-3 against Fed in prediction threads - pure muggery IMHO.

PETE was of course the dude's biggest idol. Played in the toughest era ever, when guys bled to death on the court and came back to win. Not like the current crop of RaoMug, S*itikori et al, who bend over at the first sight of Fed's face.

In a nutshell, he was a golden era troll who woulda beat you 6-0, 6-1 in a match on any surface, with one hand tied behind his back.

Nuff said.

I still crack up at his posts on Agassi too.

honestly a bit of an overrated mug with a rather monotonic troll-game. In the end he got canonized because his most prolific streak of insanity and ultimate banning happened to coincide with Federer's remarkable comeback, so he became the ironic symbol of that whole shebang.

Most of the time he was actually around, the majority of posters were tired of his shtick. But in 'death' all trolls are idealized.
