I'd fire his butt from the ATP.

But not because he did it to Federer (like some people).

Because he is clearly inept.

In the age of Kyrgipose he does this... Laughable.

Rog was done after the 2nd set, I’m impressed that he took it to be honest.
The ump was just trying to speed up the inevitable.

Force him to ump only Kyrgios matches to get a better taste for the behavior he should be watching out for

Does anyone have footage of what he did?

I very rarely watch the tennis season once the US Open finishes, so I didn't see the incident.

He hit the ball into the crowd. That’s ball abuse. It pretty much has to be called by rule.

its the same if you slam your racquet. That’s always racquet abuse by rule.

i was wondering the other day Federer announced that he Love shanghai masters, the second day umpire did this to him. Isn’t it a signal?
that even Federer can’t politically against trump?

please note the umpire claim Federer was abusing and he simply mishit the shot...
please look at the fact that since when any judge or umpire can rule over a case simply because he thinks.....
this is totally against modern western law foundation. We can only judge over fact not mind.

The ball was vertically up...it may bounce off court or not..we don’t know...but surely it’s not fire toward crowd....

Thats the problem world is facing today!!!!!!! Intolerance has reached to a new level among the feddy chuddies
This was not a code violation by any means, no signs of anger, frustration or violent outrage from federer were visible there. He just tried to pass the ball to ballkids as usual, but it bounced a bit higher due to edge. Even a non-tennis viewer can easily distinguish that it wasn't an outburst on tennis court.
The chair Umpire just wanted to show his authority because he was annoyed with the conversation roger had with him just a few minutes before (because umpire had to apologize for his mistake)
However, It was about swiss gentleman Roger, so the umpire got away with it & no drama was created on court, despite the umpire being morally wrong; otherwise some Spaniard man & some american mother are known for banning the umpire from their matches & abusing to highest levels despite the umpire being completely right in the decision making..

And another thing, you can't just prove anyone's point wrong by stamping it as intolerance or extremism. it's actually the new way of oppression by leftists who want to establish only their mindset in every matter by intentionally labelling the contrasting thoughts as extrimism/facism/intolerance/supremisim/racism etc. Completely illogically..

And going by strict code enforcements, @aditya123

Rafa should receive time violations atleast 13 times a set (which means a warning, first serve penalty, point penalty, game penalty, set penalty in that order)

And players like Kyrgious, Serena, Tomic, etc should be completely banned from playing pro tennis....

I wouldn't say atp should ban the umpire from Feds matches or anything,
Maybe he should realise himself about the egoistic mistake he made and feel ashamed for it.
However, some people from other groups are bashing fed fans for their outrage by saying that it was a clear violation & all, is totally unnecessary imo. Yes, some of those fed fans are may be a bit aggressive about the topic, but it's not like they're defending a racquet smash/F-bomb/abuse/cussword/ball-shooting in crowd/ or any such code violating acts by roger, their reason is 100% valid, the way of conduction can be a little polite though.

I don’t know if the point penalty was necessary. However, I was annoyed by Federer (which I am very rarely) about his strange behaviour when demanding from the umpire to remind him about a ball change.

I mean, why should this be the umpire’s task? As if Federer cannot count to 9 and the umpire is responsible for just knowing Federer’s habits to change the racquet one game before the balls change and making sure he doesn’t forget.

In my opinion the umpire shouldn’t care at all about which strings/racquets a player uses in which situation. If it’s important for the player, then he himself is the one to think about it of course.

People like you would flush the entire judicial system down the toilet to suit your delusional agenda.
How so? Its not my sole will but ask people to vote the motion. If over majority think it’s right, then let’s try to carry on...
I do t think it’s right for the umpire to make a rule based on his thinking without hard evidence.
he claim Federer violate rule based on things never took place. It’s based on his imagination.
he claim fed wants to hit toward crowd but fed mishit. So he punish him for his intention not his action.
but how likely a 20 grand slam champion mishit a ball tossed from his own finger....
are you blind or Mis read the whole story?
can we accuse some one who stare a sexy girl because we think he think dirty?

The man who made to the umpire must be smart and hard working to get to his position.
then why he is doing it? There is a greater depth on his action then it appeared to be.

Who sits vertically above the court? Hit toward crowd is the umpire’s imagination! The umpire claim fed wants to hit the ball toward crowd but he mishit it.so the ball go vertically up as a mistake. He punished him on his intention not his action. if fed really fire ball toward crowd , I won’t complain at all. Watch the video and pay attention please.

I was just listening to the umpire and assumed the ball must have gone into the crowd. We couldn’t see in the video.

If it didn’t, then it wasn’t a code violation.

No, that's not how the judicial system works. You don't get a raving crowd of ignorant fanatics to override the decision of a presiding judge.
