Federer is my favourite, He is just insanely good, great to watch, amazing technique, fantastic athlete and rarely gets angry

Legend
santoro!! gonzalez. federer, although he's not a flair player so much these days. murray when he's in a really tough match, otherwise he's awful to watch. safin, though his best days are now most definitely over. tommy haas.

Hewitt - I always find (or found, he's obviously not the player he was) it amazing that he could compete with and beat big hitters on fast courts with his relatively small stature (probably no more than 5'9-5'10) and seeming lack of huge weapons.

Federer is my favorite, Kohlschreiber is my second favorite, Haas is my third favorite, Simon is my fourth favorite, Roddick my fifth favorite, Murray my sixth favorite, and Verdasco my seventh.

That includes you shouldretire. I've already seen a few of your posts, I'll just say tone the hate down a bit, a little advice, take it or leave it. We don't need another firestarter around here, no matter who you cheer for.

You should be a moderator.

Nadal because of the intensity and energy he brings to the game. Also because he refrains from wearing stupid blazers with shorts, gold handbags & jackets from the love boat

He's the best clay courter of all time.

thats why he lost to soderling at the french this year that has contributed to his downfall of epic proportions. Bjorn Borg is by far the GOAT on clay.

Simultaneous holder of Olympic singles gold medal and Grand Slams on clay, grass and hardcourt which has never been done before.

are you referring only to singles? last time i checked federer won a gold medal at the olympics and has grand slams on every surface including the career grand slam.

Downfall of epic proportions? Is that a joke? He was one match away from sweeping the whole CC atp tournements this year. He's regarded as the GOAT on clay by a lot of respected tennis experts.

I said singles gold medal; if you can't read, it's not my problem.

You idiots find a reason to argue over everything.

Sampras is an exception, because he holds the most (meaningful) Grand Slam titles in history. Even though he does have a current ATP ranking, he is loved and remembered by many and therefore rightfully belongs on the poll. Research your facts before dropping names like that.

You are just being a jerk... rather than admitting you were wrong, you scrabbled for "exceptions." Sampras is not ranked on the ATP, therefore by your logic, you can't vote for him. If you can, than you cannot say no when other people pick Agassi, or other CURRENTLY unranked players. And there is absolutely no reason to be so rude, especially when your argument is completely erroneous. You are a new user, therefore more likely to get banned if you keep up this behavior.

Getting beaten at your favorite slam by a clay court specialist isn't great either.

If you are referring to Rafa he is far more than a clay court specialist. The guy has won the biggest titles in tennis at only 23. He is a great player period. I am surprised someone who calls himself a Nadal fan would even imply he is merely a clay court specialist.

First *******s say he sucks when he loses to Soderling, now he's good when it's convenient to you, It never ends...

I never said he sucked when he lost to Soderling. Everyone has a bad loss or bad day once in awhile.

That's what I've been saying. I don't see many Nadal fans bringing up bad beats from Federer but whenever I see a thread like this, Soderling's name starts popping up everwhere.

Did you even notice that I am not the OP? I did not create the poll or decide who to include there - the OP did. He got attacked for his choices, and I tried to defend him by offering possible reasoning behind his actions. Also, how is my argument erroneous when I clearly explained what separates Sampras from other former pros.

I didn't call people names. You are doing that here. As a new user, you are likely to get banned if you keep up this behavior. The mods are great on this forum, although occasionally wrong posters suffer - gj011 comes to mind. There was a lot less trolling going on while he was around, that much is certain.

lol, "blaketard"

but if you are a fan, you could have made him at least an OPTION, all i'm saying, because isn't he your favorite player?

Yeah, but I really I'm probably the only one who has him as my favorite, on these boards. So it would've been 1 vote for him. :) That's why I put other, for Blake, Tsonga, Agassi, Edberg, Borg, McEnroe, Frederico Gil (there is one on here) fans.

Isnt being a Blake fan a frusterating experience though. :) I mean I wouldnt know as I am not one, but I imagine it would be.

It's frustrating. Watching his matches is like an exercise in stress prevention at times. But it's worth it when he does stuff like beat Federer, which was worth the wait.

But then he lost to Gonzo (got screwed), which wasn't as awesome. But like I said, I'm not a bandwagon jumper, so Blake will always be my favorite.

I always hold out hope, no matter what. I still think he has a big run left in him @ the USO, so hopefully he has a good summer and gets his momentum back. That's what he needs right now, momentum and confidence. There's an old saying, "Confidence is like money-hard to gain, but easy to lose", and right now, James is somewhere near bankrupt. He just needs a stimulus package, or a bailout from Obama. :D

I watched that Olympic match and Blake definitely should have won that match. He had atleast 3 match points. It was just devastating for him I am sure. I am not sure if he would have beaten Nadal in the final but given their history he probably had a 35% shot atleast so he went from being gauranteed silver and a decent shot of gold to 4th place.

good lord mods, can you ban this shouldretire dude? biased fanboys like gamesampras and veroquiem whoever are tolerable because at least they stay on topic. but this guy shouldretire is just despicable, bringing-up stupid things that are totally not related to the thread.

Wow, what an attitude. I posted strictly on topic, while you just entered this thread to insult posters. Even some that have not posted in this thread. veroniquem (note the spelling) is not a "fanboy" as far as I know. She is a light-hearted knowledgeable lady who supports great tennis players. Insulting her the way you did is classless and uncalled for.

Definitely Nadal. I like Roddick and Murray as well. If Sampras is on there, Agassi should be on there as well. Agassi was my all-time favorite.

That match really sucked because gonzo lied about his racket touching the ball. what a jerk.

Olympic tennis is not your Sunday hacker bush league USTA competition. Only the chair umpire has responsibility to make that call. Not Gonzalez, and most certainly not Blake. There are rules in pro tennis.

Yes, but the chair umpire clearly made the wrong call. Blake deserved the match, but the chair umpire made the wrong decision. If Gonzalez had owned up to his racket touching the ball, the chair umpire would have realized that Gonzalez' racket indeed touched the ball, and given Blake the point and the match. Withholding that information was indeed cheating by Gonzalez, which is by definition a violation of the rules.
