Who realistically stops Nadal

gn

G.O.A.T.
This pretty much.

Realistically Djokovic with the chance...second place is Federer.

Quite funny, Djokovic has taken up so much space in Fed's head that there is no space left for Nadal anymore. Lol

Random player is someone like Thiem
That one hurts. -_-

I would give Djoko 90% chance and Fed 50% chance against Rafa. I would have given Fed 75% chance had he won that Final.

I am not, he definitely has his chances too.

Nadal is more reliable against the field these days so that's no surprise. You have to win 7 matches for a Slam. In the H2Hs against Fed and Novak though, he has done poorly recently on hard courts. And that lack of momentum can easily play a part if he meets them.
Rafa has done much better than Federer in USO past 10 years.
If you really think Federer can beat Rafa there you should place a big bet on it.

Nope he hasn't improved since miami this year...
He just happens to be a bad matchup for nole
I would say his stamina has improved since then and in february and march, opponents(other than big 3) were still able to outplay him from baseline. In these 3 weeks no one besides rafa has really outplayed medvedev from baseline.

No need to tell me that. I am aware...

I would still have to wait for them to make it to each other first, if I was ever in betting waters. And these days I trust Nadal more to make it that far. We'll see. Either way, I think they are both underdogs against Novak.

Since Fed been in Rafas half 3 slams in a row one can assume he will not be that this time.

There was a four year period when Fed and Novak were in the same half in 14 out of 15 Slams. Don't rule anything out. :p Fedal in NYC hasn't happened yet as well, which many would love to see...

Just saying that there were more unlikely events than Fed and Rafa being in the same half for four consecutive Slams.

Which to me sort of looked like a hint towards draws could be rigged to what people want to see.
People have wanted to see that since 2007, so would be strange if they started rigging that only from this year.

They were the top two seeds in 2007-10. They could have met before the final a couple of times before, but Fed didn't do his part and had back problems as well. And three times, one or them skipped the event. Time is really running out now.

As I said, weirder things happened than Fedal being in the same half for four Majors in a row. Don't write off any possibility.

Given Nadal utterly destroyed Medevedev, who is the in form hard court player, unless injury strikes it is hard seeing Nadal being stopped in New York or even losing more than 3 or 4 sets on way to title number 4.

Given nadal's form at moment (3 of 4 big events won), the humbleness of the man himself and his fans is so heartwarming to see. No arrogance, just respect for all opponents, and this is why Rafa is so popular.
A lot will depend on the courts, but yeah, Rafa does seem almost unbeatable right now. Key word, almost. Djoker I think would still be favored in a final.

Bull will have his chances in NYC for sure. In-form Joe or Roj will both be a formidable challenge but he would have his chances against either one.

He could always lose before SF/F but I think most people believe that Bull is the least upset prone at majors right now given the remarkable run he is on of 6 consecutive semis and 10/11 QF or better.
It's crazy to think how time changes, given there was a lean period from 2015 wimb to 2016 us ooen where he didn't reach one qf and people wrote him off and see now way he is being said as most least prone to upsets.

Also compare Nole 2017 USO and now. Things change quickly among the big three.

Funnily Nadal was favoured over Novak at AO this year before their match.
Was he? I know that Rafa was playing great, coming into the final, but it's hard to believe he was favored over a 6-x AO champ, who was holding the last two majors. But... I'll say that if they were to meet in the final, its hard to imagine Novak winning by a similar margin.

So oyu are saying a player who has not performed well in lead up to a major has more chance than players who have?
No, that is what YOU are saying.

Djokovic is top favourite for USO, followed by RF and then quite a way behind is Rafa, and even further behind the rest... all those struggling kids and pigeon veterans.
No. I didn't ask who is the favourite for USO. I asked who is your favourite player in general.

Djokovic or Federer. Pretty certain he has to beat atleast one of them for the Open. Best he can hope for is that he avoids them till the final, an inform player like Medvedev reaches the final (unlikely), in which case Rafa would be all but nailed on to win the title. I would fancy Rafa against Rog on the slow HC though, I honestly would.

Problem is it has a low bounce. The USO is said to be faster than last year too.

As things stand, the only thing that can stop Nadal is Djokovic, and Novak's form would need to improve dramatically.

We know Djokovic gets energized by the matchup with Nadal, but I feel like he will struggle more against the field than Nadal will and possibly not make the final.

I was amazed by Roger's level at Wimbledon, but he has taken a few steps back in the short time since, with one of his worst performances in Cincy. For the past decade, US hardcourts have been a bridge too far for Roger, and this year he is carrying additional significant wear and tear from clay.

As much as I hate to say it, he will be a non-factor.

Non-factor? Lol. I would be shocked if we saw another Millman and expect a deep run from Rojer.

Djokovic is way off where he needs to be to be competitive with Nadal as his defeat to Medvedeve, a gut Nadal crushed proves. Djokovic may of course improve so nothing is guaranteed but at the moment on hard courts Nadal is in a class of his own.
