Who realistically stops Nadal

A lot will depend on the courts, but yeah, Rafa does seem almost unbeatable right now. Key word, almost. Djoker I think would still be favored in a final.
Rome I think is quite important. There was a lot riding on that match and I still think a bagel set is significant. Its the same way as im a bit worried about Nadal facing Thiem in NY, even though Nadal beat him, that bagel set did kind say that Thiem on fire can really hurt Rafa in New York.

I told about federer's form in sunshine double 2019..
And nope, nadal stood no chance in that possible match against Roger. If he had slightest of a chance, he would not have ducked him
You mean like Federer ducked Nadal UO 2017 and AO 2019.

Are you delusional or just a troll? Nadal is better than Thiem on HC, Federer lost to Thiem, Nadal would have crushed Federer.

I am dying for Federer to man up and make it to semi's to face Nadal in new York....honestly the gloating Nadal fans will embark on after that match will be epic lol.

I don't remember federer retiring from any match against nadal before even stepping on to court..
IW13 is the best example.
And well, if you talk about probable duckings, then rafa has ducked roger at USO2005, AO2006, USO2006, AO2007, USO2007, USO2008, WIM2009, USO2009, and on and on and on...
These talks have no ending, so we may talk about only real ducklings

Why is he a bad matchup do you think as really he should be easy pickings for Djokovic due to his lack of variety and grinding style, which Djokovic is better at.
He is a bad match-up for most of the tour.

In Nole's case, he is mirroring Nole a lot. Strong backhand, high % tennis, rallying till your opponent makes a mistake, and his stamina gets better.
He had a super solid start vs Nole in Davis Cup match few years ago, when I'm not sure if he was in the top 100.
Apparently Medvedev couldn't believe it himself, and he lost the match due to emotional failure.

AO 2019. That was probably the toughest match for Nole.

So, as he battled Nole on multiple occasions, I think we can take luck out of equation and say that empirical data suggests that he is a bad matchup for Nole.

Non-factor? Lol. I would be shocked if we saw another Millman and expect a deep run from Rojer.
Fair. I think he will make a good run. I just can't see him getting past the qrtrs and to the rounds where he would run into Djokovic / Nadal and affect their paths. After Wimbledon I would have had him second favourite, such was his level at that time. But Roger's form is extremely volatile at this stage of his career.

Djokovic is way off where he needs to be to be competitive with Nadal as his defeat to Medvedeve, a gut Nadal crushed proves. Djokovic may of course improve so nothing is guaranteed but at the moment on hard courts Nadal is in a class of his own.

His movement I think is an issue that next time he plays Djokovic will be exposed.

Federer tanked v Del Potro at UO 2017...by his own admission pretty much. You cannot rely on teenage nadal not yet understanding HC tennis as your point of argument.

Federer is 1-3 at AO v nadal, and AO suits Federer a lot more than UO. Federer v Nadal at UO would be as one sided as RG...for heavens sake Federer has never beat del Potro at UO !!

That's what many people thought during AO 2019, but we know the end result.:giggle::whistle:
To derive from two results (Nadal d. Medvedev in Montreal and Medvedev d. Djoker in Cincinnati) that Nadal is as good or even better than Djoker on HC is a terrible mistake. You don't take into account the matchup, that Medvedev can torment Djoker while he played with Nadal only once and wasn't prepared for Nadal's style of play. Furthermore, nervousness from the Masters final aggravated Med's performance, while he was mentally relaxed against Djoker in SF Cinci.
Djoker is the world No. 1 and defending champion at USO. There's no bigger favorite for the title than he.

I never thought Nadal was fav in Australia. i was there and said all along Djokovic was winning. I did not expect nadal to capitulate as he did, but on those courts Nadal was never beating Djokovic. it is Djokovic's house.

UO is altogether different. In a final there will be celebrities, a packed stadium, and a hostile atmosphere for Novak, which against nadal, who will not make errors like Federer can, that will all take a toll. If Nadal plays well I would expect a repeat of the 2013 final.

If Nadal doesn't play well ,then he is at risk of a hammering by Djokovic

Maybe recently when they slowed it down.

Peak Fed would kill Nadal on the old fast USO surface.

Of Zverev, Tsitispas, Khachanov, Medvedev and Kyrgios, who do you think he would beat or lose to? Do you think he would beat RBA?

I think he could potentially lose to all those guys with the exception of Kachanov and RBA. Federer would just spread the court and bamboozle Kachanov completely imo. Too strategical strong for him. RBA can keep up strategically but Federer will give him absolutely no rhythm and force him to move forward out of his comfort zone. Love watching RBA and would love to see him play Federer one day and get the match played on his terms. Very hard for a blue ribbon counter puncher to do that against a player as attacking as Federer.

I think RBA has enough shot making ability to test anyone if he is on his game.

Rather fatigue from playing 3 finals in 3 consecutive weeks.
If they get to play, or if Rafa or Roger gets to play vs him.
Otherwise his movement is top class, that is his main weapon.

I'm a fan too. Underrated for his tremendous mental toughness. The guy has been through a lot of bad stuff in the last two years and is still a mental rock.

Underrated physical level as well.

Don't be a trollster, you look soft hiding behind a keyboard.

You hve been embarrassed on here, give it up. You contradict your own arguments.
Now try that in 1st person. Just replace the "you" with "I", and you've just written a 100% accurate TTW autobiography of yourself. Literally only fact-based, which is a new start for you.

Not exactly the makings of a bestseller, but still...

In 30 years people will LOL when people say that their favourite players are Rafa and Roger. Fame is so fickle...
If I take a stalk at some of your recent posts it's hidden in plain sight.

And Sampras is my favourite player followed by Murray. No one has LOLd yet on that when I tell them.

Because Roger "only" needs to get over the hurdle Djokovic, he can beat Rafa, whereas Rafa would have to beat both, which he can't anymore outside of clay.
After winning Montreal, getting some rest and with better recent results at the US, I think Rafa would be a slight favorite should they meet.

Their current forms through 5 or 6 rounds and the actual speed of Ashe will be more important than their Can/Cincy results.

Really sub-par thread. This is what the OP was saying in Wimbledon as well.
But then Nadal was thrashed by Federer - completely outplayed and dominated. The match could have been straight sets as well.

Nadal, AT BEST, is a DISTANT third favorite in the UsOpen.

He is obviously a HEAVY UNDERDOG against Djokovic and Federer, but also has a big chance of being upset by any of the big hitters and new-gen players (Kygrios, Kachanov, Zverev, Thiem, TsiTsiPas, Medvedev etc etc).

Where is your evidence? AO is quicker than any UO court in the past and its Nadal 3-1 Federer there.

Would u not say that outside grass best of 5 is hard for Federer v Nadal?

Given Nadal utterly destroyed Medevedev, who is the in form hard court player, unless injury strikes it is hard seeing Nadal being stopped in New York or even losing more than 3 or 4 sets on way to title number 4.

Given nadal's form at moment (3 of 4 big events won), the humbleness of the man himself and his fans is so heartwarming to see. No arrogance, just respect for all opponents, and this is why Rafa is so popular.
i am not getting my hopes too high.......he's having mental issues atm........

Nadal is epic. Hoping for Federer/Nadal final, would be wings all over the place :p
i am not sure about that........his once great aura of invincibility has vanished due to him becoming a chicken mentally..........thiem will finally get him at roland garros next year........

it was never about novak, it was always about himself not being able to overcome his inner daemons........due to his fragile nature he started to lose to his once easy pigeon fed as well........novak is just a catalyst who's helping nadal dig a hole for himself.........nadal had solved the djoko riddle of 2011 by defeating him at the biggest stages in 2012 and 2013.........this current version of novak is nothing for him if he was anywhere near as strong mentally as he was five years ago.........

old nadal simply could not be defeated in best of five sets tennis matches on any surface against any player in any kind of form.........just check my sig for what i mean.........he was playing at forty percent in that match and still had novak on the ropes in that great final.........

What made him lose his strong mentality? What changed in between? What are his inner demons that made him fragile?

he is losing because of the fear of losing, he is allowing that fear to get into his head while in the past he used to deal with it so well......game wise there’s nothing he needs to change to beat fedovic......

No it isn’t :-D

AO was slow as clay for their 3 matches... Fed won the only sped up one.

And evidence is their big decoturf matches in 2006/2007 at YEC. Easy straight set wins for Fed. USO goes same way, logically thinking.

But why should he develop this sudden fear of losing when he already had Federer under control? You don't suppose the rise of Djokovic in 2011 had nothing to do with it?
