Who still uses a 10 year or older racket

Currently going back and forth between the 10 year old Head MicroGel Radical 107 (absolutely loving this racquet right now) and the 27+ year old Prince Original Graphite 93.

I've been using the POG Mid off and on for 20 years or more now and the MG Rad OS is a new found love!

I still use the PK5G and TW describes it as a low to medium powered frame. Maybe it was when it first debuted 16 years ago, but compared to today's rackets, it's definitely low powered.

I have played for 40 years and hit with every racket out there. But I always come back to my prostaff 7.0 which I have had since 1994. ( i have 4 of them).
Certain rackets provide more power..others more spin... but this racket feels like an old glove to me and I know exactly how it responds on every kind of shot. My grips have always been fairway leather..no overwraps.. Sure I have callouses but nothing let's me feel the bevels like leather. I have tried all the modern grips and still pay the premium to get my fairway.
Some days I suck and say to myself that's it time for a change of racket but than I come back to reality and recognize it was me not the racket that messed up.
Anybody feel the same way?

To give you my impression on this topic I'm doing some testing by getting a particular model then buying each iteration of that model for testing purposes to see how the frame evolves over many years. The other variable is myself. In the space of 10 or even 20 years we change and evolve as well.
Also racquet companies have high snd low points, improving eras and declining times as well.
Then there are the classics which do have an enduring appeal for many years until a new frame becomes clearly superior.
So far with my testing I'm finding the new stuff is better than a model made 10 years ago in certain parramaters.

I made this exact switch probably 5-6 years ago but ended up switching back. I just never had the same pop and control with me serves but the groundies were very similar. I used the POG93 since 1988.

I then moved to the Prince Mono which gave me all and more.

I am playing with the Dunlop 200 (s) in my signature line. But always on the lookout for my favorite stick ever. A ProK Proforma 110. It was purple. And made me awesome.

I think instead of a Pro K it was a Spalding. I recently found a pic of me playing with the Spalding Elyptech (sp) and it reminded me that my coach reped for Spalding...

Just had to correct that. I'd love to see one online somewhere....

This thread should be revisited! Older frames provide an awesome and cheap way to get into tennis, and for us tennis-heads, mess around and have fun.

I use a Head i.Prestige XL. The feel can't be beat, and it really lets you crank up spin and power!

I gave one of those away two years ago. I was in the hospital and was talking to the nurse and he indicated that he played tennis but couldn't afford a new racquet. He did like the APD. I offered him a PDR and he accepted it. I dropped it off for him on a follow-up visit to my surgeon.

Prince Speedport Gold 110 / throat insert since mid 2008.
Yes I said in a post when they were in early release, that using the insert made no sense given the price premium over the O3 Blue / Citrons that I was currently using.
However when I demoed the frame, the racket was easier for me to use, perhaps thanks to the slot in the shaft.

I haven’t played a match since then. I haven’t hit a serve since then either. I’ve only been back to hitting starting three months ago. I do plan to try hitting a few serves soon.

My two current sticks: Prince Michael Chang OS (28") played about 4 hours since purchased and restrung. Nice, plush, good weight. The FrankenStick is the Prince TT Bandit OS has been my main stick for the last 6 months with the same Ashaway Kevlar+ and 2nd version of cross string pulled several times. Both has at least equivalent of 4 nickels under replacement and OS grip. The only small gripe is that they do not swing as fast as say Babolat Purestrike 18x20 or Prince Tour 95. If I can mod the "motor", i.e. my body, these should be almost as good.

Im using the Angel TC 95... which was orignally a Vantage model so technecally yes... and I love the fact I can still get the same frame and not have to worry about replacements. That's a major plus for me.

Certain rackets provide more power..others more spin... but this racket feels like an old glove to me and I know exactly how it responds on every kind of shot. My grips have always been fairway leather..no overwraps.. Sure I have callouses but nothing let's me feel the bevels like leather. I have tried all the modern grips and still pay the premium to get my fairway.
Some days I suck and say to myself that's it time for a change of racket but than I come back to reality and recognize it was me not the racket that messed up.
Anybody feel the same way?

Pro Staff 6.1 Classic Si... love that stick. Used it for 25 years. I broke the hoop last year. That was a bad day.

That was my frame in high school before I made the long term switch to the prince graphite LB.

I loved the MP XL, especially with non-cap grommets put on it.

5 x Yonex RDX 500 mid (2004 - 2006). Okay, I have a few tailweighted 18 x 20 Blades too, the 2015 version, but RDX still has the feel you can´t beat.

Oh well. Finally switched to Angell TC 95 (both string patterns). I still have the RDX's -but no more Blades for me, they gave me elbow symptoms.
