Who wants some fast grass?

Mega!

Also, it's very easy to look at the highlights of one baseline-dominated match and say, "Yeah!!! This is real tennis, FTW!" But if this surface were more prevalent and were returned to Wimbledon, you would not see many matches like this. You would see endless aces and a few 2-3 stroke rallies (mostly on the volley) on the side. You don't see how boring Wimbledon tennis pre-2002 was on youtube highlights, since the aces, service winners, return errors and double faults are usually cut out.

But you get pushfests on slow courts cut out of highlights as well. You get boring matches, you get good matches. Good and bad match-ups. Same for every surface.

Bring back some fast indoors tournies as well.

Federer's netgame is laughable at times, he relies on the fact that he is coming in on an amazing forehand or easy put away. Even then he still misses. Yes, Federer is pretty good at the net, but there are players that are ALOT more players that are better than him at the net, that are nowhere near the top. Pretty much almost every top 30 or so doubles player for instance has better volleys than Federer.

Name some. Other than the guys I've stated. Oh yeah I forgot Seppi he's good at the net.

BTW doubles specialists/players don't really indicate Federer is 'laughable' at the net. They live at the net, Federer is a baseliner.

Federer's s&v is overrated by his fans. And all this talk about fast grass is moot because it will never happen in the foreseeable future. All his Wimbledon trophies were won in the same grasscourt that Nadal has won his. If and when, could or should......not gonna happen.

Bottom line, Nadal made him eat grass at the Greatest Match of all time. This, Fed fans you should accept and stop hanging on to could haves or should haves.

Moving on.

Greatest match of all time was Federer v Safin AO 2005. Much better than the shank/moonball fest of W08!

Federer is also a grinder, didn't you know that:roll:?

He has a point. Federer doesn't use his legs enough on volleys, especially low ones. He gets away with it because he has amazing hands. Fish, and to some extent Feliciano Lopez, have better technique.

Federer has amazing hand skills but he's not a great volley. Has a suspect forehand volley.

He has the best volleys of any top player (Besides maybe Tsonga), and they both use their's more than other top players.

Muzzard has good volley's too - but allergic to the net.

That's an opinion, not a fact. I don't think Fed played his best in 2008 Wimbledon final(or overall that year) and I consider 2007 Wimbledon final to have been a higher quality match, I'm sure you disagree(and your opinion is effected by your biase towards Nadal just as mine is by my bias towards Fed) but neither of us can be proven right really.

Fed's volleys/S&V may be overrated but he's the only one of the active players who can make a claim that he won Wimbledon by and large serve and volleying(2003 Wimbledon).

Furthemore when it comes to Fed-Nadal match-up the lower bouncing the surface is the more I favour Fed(peak for peak of course) and old grass bounced lower compared to the modern grass.

I think Kubot would like some fast grass. 4thR MP's vs Lopez on the slow stuff...he would be dangerous on Sydney-like surfaces.

Federer S&V worked great at 2003 Wimbledon. He served and volleyed on 48/53 first serves (91%) and in total 58% on all his serves.
