I've not seen the wire, I am hearing people praise the wire for like 10-12 years now, I've never watched an episode of that. Is that good ? It is rated very high on IMDB too.
I watched a good 4-5 episodes, but it's unbelievably slow and hard to follow, especially as a non-native speaker.
It's one of the only shows I had to drop for being too hard to watch.

To a degree it feels more like a documentary than a TV show and it's probably very relatable if you lived that social context.

Incest was taboo among the rich classes then but it was not something which did not happen among the poor section of society, we are talking about a timeline which resembles 1000 years ago. Even 500 years ago women were burned for being witches, imagine what would have happened 1000 or 1500 years ago ? You have no respect for history, thats why you are speaking like this. A person who has curiosity of how life would have been in ancient times would always appreciate a fictional masterpiece like GOT instead of finding trivial loopholes like incest... why are so disturbed by the plot ? It is just a plot and yes it is very realistic too, it is not lawless land, the rules and lifestyle shown in that would exactly be like that 1000 years ago.... have you heard heard of the roman emperor Caligula? Do you know what type of lifestyle he led ? Google and read about him.

Thanks....... I'll watch it in the near future... I have plans to watch Sopranos and Narcos as well. Drug based crime series is a genre which I have to explore more. Breaking Bad I watched like a decade back but it is surprising that i've not watched anything else in this genre.
i have seen both Sopranos(several times now) and Narcos and liked them both very much. i think Hank gave the book that Narcos was based of to Walter Jr as birthday present lol. I didn't pick that up when i watched it.
I think i would put BB , The Wire and Sopranos as the best tv i have watched so far.

The Wire is amazing. One of the best shows ever created.

You are not wrong lol. There are no sound tracks in wire, not as background score anyways/ All you here is just the typical noise pollution from city life. I think it is by intent. Large part of the show's realism comes from it's creator David Simon who worked on the Baltimore drugscenes for years. And they hired a lot of people from the neighborhood for extras/crew as well.

entire show is cringe and overrated
Of the high profile shows I'd say "Succession" is the most cringe-worthy and overrated show.
Somebody throwing their cell phone in anger is a big moment in Succession... a show about boring brats.
Also "The Walking Dead" was hugely popular and I could never figure out why, as it seemed rather repetitive.

Seasons 2 and 3 are kinda slow and boring to some degree. It gets better with each season from 1 to 5 and S05 is an absolute masterpiece, possibly the GOAT TV series season and the main reason why it gets so hyped.
Isn’t season 4 usually seen as the best season? I haven’t watched the show but a lot of opinions I’ve read suggest the show took a dip after the first four seasons.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Prison Break.
Binged-watched season 1 and 2. I might start Breaking bad today since season Prison Break S3 isn't as good as S1.

Unfortunately with Dexter, as likeable as he was, a few innocent people were being killed indirectly, as a result of his vigilante justice.
The irony with Dexter is, he was supposed to following his code like it was his only reason for living, but he kept ignoring his code at important moments....
His lack of discipline cost him his wife (all Dexter had to do was let The Trinity Killer commit suicide, but instead he saves him just so he can study him for a couple more weeks, pathetic) and his sister (Dexter had The Brain Surgeon all tied up and ready to die, but instead gets his sister involved needlessly).

Honestly Nadal gives me Dexter vibe. Same ocd, same proper behavior in front of audience and same lack of empathy towards his colleagues.

What do you think?

Jesse was not the guy. He wasn't capable of being the guy. We had a guy but now we don't. He is not the guy.

Breaking Bad is so good. But a lot of people need to check out Better Call Saul. Not quite as good imo but it comes really close. Both excellent shows.
A bunch of people in my family loved Breaking Bad, and then saw the pilot of Better Call Saul and gave up on it.
If they'd watched more than one episode I think they'd have liked Better Call Saul, it was one of the smartest shows ever made.
Breaking Bad relied more on suspense, while Better Call Saul relied on smart storytelling and character development.
I see why Breaking Bad was more popular, because it was A+++++++ level suspense, but Better Caul Saul was a deeper show.

yep. GRRM had a whole bunch of story lines progressing simultaneously. The show caught up with the few of them by end of season 4 / begining of season 5. Predictably the show started to drop in quality when the writers were forced to write for themselves. Noticeable in season 5, more so in 6. beyond that it fell into a chasm most fans don't want to take a second look in.

Nadal always looks friendly with his colleagues, so I don't see any lack of empathy.
He's always been great friends with Murray and Dimitrov especially, and great friends with all the Spaniards.
Looks genuine to me, not fake.
OCD is a common amongst hundreds of millions of people, so no connection to Dexter.

Wow, I thought Michael was talking about Breaking Bad when I initially responded to him, not GoT :X3:

Yeah, for GoT it peaked in S04, but S05 and S06 had some great individual moments and belong with the other 4 for me. Especially S06 I would rank higher than most seasons. It's the 7th one it went visibly downhill for me.

I didn't think they can do a worse job than season 8 finale and yet managed it in the comeback. goddamn.
I know, Dexter's son was such a mess, and Dexter was his only hope of ever being decent (or a decent killer), but instead the writers suddenly turned on Dexter in the final episode.
It made no sense to suddenly make Dexter lose his sense of logic or control, and really ruined New Blood when it had been quite good prior to the final episode.
Terrible writers, whereas I actually really enjoyed the Season 8 finale, it was completely unpredictable all the way, and very creative with lots of epic moments, so I approve of the Season 8 finale.

So @ALCARAZWON can actually be a great poster. Why have you stuck to the schtick brother?
The bold letter at the start of each sentence schtick?
Because I find my posts easier to to re-read when they have that bold letter.

Wow, Melrose Place getting a mention. :giggle:

Michael Mancini ftw.
I'm only 25 episodes into Melrose Place, and its really impressive how you think its a straight drama, but then it has crime come into the story out of nowhere.
Very smart show, and has the best music of any tv series ever made (not referring to the opening theme, though it is great, I mean all the music they use during each episode, brilliant wide range of instrumental rock).
I'm tempted to put Melrose Place above the Sopranos, but I'll wait till I've seen a couple more seasons.

Cool... any more crime related Tv shows which you would recommend ? Preferably released in last 20 years, not older.

Marie is the most annoying character on the show by a wide margin. Being married to her would have caused me to huff bath salts for a living while also vaping rotten dandelion oil for kicks.

Walt is most disappointing character. His love for making the blue stuff trumped his love for his loyal wife, who quite honestly, was out of his league to begin with.

Oh yeah irl bring married to her would push you to becoming alcoholic as well.

True Detective comes to mind first. Amazing first season(Mathew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson) followed by 2 more pretty good ones. Fargo is another. both anthology type shows, each season has a contained story. The Shield(not the super hero one) is like a dumbed down version of the wire, still very entertaining.

Marie was at least smashable so it can't be her. Voted the teenage son because you needed to be a x2 speed to deal with him, in the end I just skipped any family stuff and missed nothing of the plot.

If you have no problem with subtitles, then I would recommend giving Griselda a go. It was brought to my attention the other day and I watched the first couple of episodes last night. I'm enjoying it. And no, for anybody interested, I'm not just watching it because of Sofía Vergara's boobs. haha

It's only a 6 part series.

I don't think anyone would want to be married to Skyler or Marie, but I found Marie entertaining because of how opposite she was to Hank, they bring humor to the show.
Season 5 of Fargo is really good, maybe not as good as the first season, but 5 its the best of the rest, Jon Hamm's character is top notch acting.
Whereas True Detective, I only like the first season, and usually I like Jodie Foster's work but not this time.

I normally struggle to watch stuffs with just subtitles without knowing the language that is being spoken, I donno why, the connect just doesn't come. English is not my first language either but it has been like my 1st since toddler days & I've been watching Hollywood stuffs since kid years, thats why I watch all these shows. Hollywood movies and tv shows are watched worldwide, cant say the same for other languages', so it is tough.

Is it available in dubbed? The original language is Spanish, right?

I did not watch Dark as well due to it being in german, I love sci fi but had to skip it...

Thanks...I'll first watch Wire and Sopranos, then will shift to these.

Spoilers in my reply for anyone who hasn't seen the show.

I pick Walt. I liked him at first, but the character became more and more annoying as the show progressed. They made the character too smart...too cunning......too invincible. I found myself saying "oh come on!" too often, lol. He even died triumphantly...finding a way for his son to get his drug money, seeing his daughter (even with the home under constant surveillance) for a final time, freeing Jessie and killing Lydia and Todd's family.

Walter escaped being caught by Hank so many times, even dodged death on many occasions. As Jesse rightfully said Mr White has more brains that all of you and more luck as well. You can say Mr White had plot armor. He is the Star of the show, he cannot lose.

Yeah the last episode of Breaking Bad was especially bad writing.
Its amazing how shows can have superb writing all the way through and then totally lose their minds at the very end.
Same thing with Dexter New Blood, the writing was really good until a truly novice finale.

Walter's desperate move in giving away 80M to save his brother in law Hank was also an unrealistic move, the Walter we know who wanted to provide for his children at all cost would never have give the co ordinates to Todd's uncle.

The accolades go to their heads. They begin to think anything they write is 'genius'.

Like Jesse figuring out that Brock had been poisoned by Walt. For Jesse (about to go into hiding) to quickly figure all this out all because the bodyguard had pickpocketed his weed was one of those lost-their-minds writing moments. When Jesse deduced that the ricin cigarette (like his weed) had been pickpocketed earlier, why would he connect it to Brock's poisoning? The doctors had attributed the cause to the berries of a plant...not ricin.

Walter's desperate move in giving away 80M to save his brother in law Hank was also an unrealistic move, the Walter we know who wanted to provide for his children at all cost would never have give the co ordinates to some Todd's uncle.

I agree. I think it was the writers' way of keeping Walt as the likable protagonist...one who was still sensitive and willing to give up his violently-earned millions for an in-law who despised him.
