Who was your tennis inspiration?

Pete Sampras and Roger Federer. I know it's cliche and I jumped on the bandwagon, but those two really remind you what tennis is all about. Whoever gets the last ball in the other person's court is the winner. They always have that idea in their head with whatever they did, and that goal orientation made their tennis great.

Sampras.I didnt follow the game before that.I was into the other sports then i watch this guy and i start following the sport.

Boris Becker was the reason I started playing tennis. When I saw him diving around the grass at Wimbledon, it made me want to play tennis like him.

btw, why is Davydenko, the toughest competitor in the circuit, not sponsered by a major apparel company?
It's such a pity to see lowly ranked players such as Phillisousis and Mardy Fish are sponsered, but Davydenko is not.

Michael Chang. Mainly because he was just a nice guy to boot. I always rooted for him out of the big 4 US Players at the time (Sampra, Agassi, Chang and Courier). Just a shame he couldn't win another slam.
Plus, he was on Sesame Street with Big Bird and bounced a ball 40 times. That's what made me want to start playing tennis. Never forgot that.

One day when I was about ten years old, I turned on the TV on a Saturday morning to watch Bugs Bunny. But it wasn't on. Instead I watched Johnny Mac on "Breakfast at Wimbledon." Ever since then I've dreamed one day smashing my racquet and behaving like an *** (as well as hitting beautiful volleys) one the lawns of Centre Court. Instead I will go to my club tonight in frozen suburban Minneapolis, volley like Roddick, dump many into the net, get passed a lot, double fault, and hit a few winners that no one will see. With any luck, I can still behave like an ***. The dream lives on.

I remember a couple matches in particular - this was in one of the summer Masters Series that he beat Nicolas Lapentti in one round (something like 6-4 6-2 or 7-6 6-2) and then lost to Alberto Martin 6-4 6-4. That was when I discovered how exciting serve and volley tennis could be, and when I decided that I needed to learn to serve and volley, and that's when I got really into the game.

Tilden, Kramer, and Gonzales. Tilden had the grace and movement of a God, Kramer was Mr. Efficiency, and Gonzales played like a cat with its tale on fire.

Bjorn Borg and Pete Sampras.
Borg's the one that got me interested in tennis in the late 70's. Unfortunately, by the time I took tennis lessons in college (took tennis as a PE requirement), he had already retired. Pete Sampras, even to this day, is the one I emulate the most. IMO, his movements are the most perfect of all, especially his serve.
