Which one of these 2 very impressive 17-year-olds has more potential? I was stunned by both of their games in recent tournaments. To me it seems that Zverev has the bigger game and bigger weapons, while Coric is more athletic and has better defense. Some of Coric's gets and scrambling points against Fognini were just as good as Nole's or Murray's. All of this running wore out his still immature body (he cramped badly in the last game) but that is something he will probably fix as he grows and fills out a bit. Another impressive thing about these guys is their backhands. Both BH are already world-class. They can take them cross court or DTL with ease and have great finishing power off that side. So, who will be better? It's honestly very hard to call right now. IMO both will be future slam champs, but I'm gonna be bold and say Coric will accomplish more. His scrambling and athletic game (contrast to Zverev's bigger, Del Potro-like game) is more suited to the current style. Also, Coric's FH seems a bit more technically sound. This could be a big asset given how important the FH is in modern tennis. What do you think?

Love both of their games, very contrasting styles. Both have unbelievable amounts of talent. Huge fan of both, but as close as they are, I'd say Zverev.
I love his calm demeanor on court. I reckon if his groundies and especially serve can grow with him (along with fitness), he could be a a very dangerous top player in the future.

I agree with the pick, but why do you think it will not even be close?
Zverev possess only good backhand and serve, I don't get your comparison with DelPotro who got one of the greatest forehands. And as you mentioned his poor movement would be a huge factor in modern slow-courts game, guys like Ferrer will pick him apart. For the last 10 years I remember only Safin and DelPotro from tall guys who won a Slam, and these 2 are supreme talents. We just need to wait to see if Zverev will be able to get some muscles for generating more power, otherwise he got average chances to make it to the top. Coric seems like a more complete player and way tougher mentally as for now.

Zverev, his game.has massive potential to improve, and if the courts pick back up in speed which AO2014 hinted at, the courts will go back to favor him slightly.

If the courts stay the same, haven't seen enough of Coric but I think he has a good game and physique, and will likely be more consistent.

Coric. Awesome serve and has a lot of fight in him. Also seems to like playing to the crowd..a good quality to have in big matches.

Depends on if Zverev develops at the same rate he has the last year or two.

Coric is the safer bet. I think he will for sure end up getting a slam and likely some time at #1 as well in five or so years once the big 4 are done. I see his peak potential as ending up with a Murray level career though.

Zverev is the better bet to end up as a future tier 2/3 GOAT and win 5-8 slams, but he could also end up being an inconsistent power player like Berdych or Tsonga.

He'll only be 22! You think he'll be better than prime Dimitrov, Raonic, Nishikori, etc. ? (Not saying those guys will be studs, but most 22 year olds in today's game are good enough to be top 20)

Coric is about 2 years ahead of Dimitrov in development and the fastest developing guy we have seen in a while. He is winning matches at the ATP tour level and has a ranking inside the top 200 at 17. Dimitrov didn't achieve that until 19. Also the main reason young players can't get "good enough" to be able to win is due to consistency/conditioning, not due to skill (case in point Dimitrov).

This does not seem to be the case for Coric. If he is able to continue his development on that front along with his over-all skill set, I can see him being a top player by 22. I didn't mean he would necessarily win a slam and be #1 AT 22, but I mean he would start making deep runs and being a consistent threat then.

In any case in 5 years Nishikori, Dimitrov, Raonic will all be 28-29 so a couple years older than where the Big 4 are now. At that point the guys in their prime will be the Vesely, Kyrgios, Thiem, Sock, Tomic generation. All of them seem to be progressing at the same rate as the current young guys have, so we will have to see. I think Zverev and Coric both have more potential than any of those guys.
