Due to how messy the website and other information happens to be and the fact that the link to the 'main draw' does not direct you to the main draw, I am unable to give any draw information at the present time.

Former Winners In Draw
Elena Dementieva (2006)
Maria Sharapova (2005)
Martina Hingis (2002)

WTA draws don't date back further than 2001 so if there are any more previous winners in the draw, I can't be bothered scouring the activity of every player to see whether or not they won.

God... stupid WTA site. It's so messy... they should just outright change their format to match the ATP's. x_x

peer or hingis. sharapova and jankovic never showed for their last match at the aussie. don't they've recovered.

Sharapova seems like a good choice. I also think Jankovic or Dementieva could win this title as well but i feel like they both have a weakness. Dementieva's serve could be a liability and Jankovic's mental toughness could be a factor.

i have to say sharapova ..

the AO final was against a very powerful opponent and maria just didnt modify her play to suit the current situation , yet she kept her ordinary way of bashing from the baseline against a much tougher player ..
luckilt this player is not around at Tokyo so my vote is for sharapova and my second choice is Hingis ..

darn , when did that happen ?! :D
injured or what ?
though i can't complain , ivanovic is my favourite (woman not player of course )

she retired with the hamstring and it was bothering her a bit at the australian open and it got worst and it caused her some problems on her serves this tournament. SO i guess that explains those 17 double faults against schiavone and 14 against sugiyama. She said she felt it after she served and landed on her feet. She said that she should recover within a week.

a week is fine , we don't her on the bench for long , would miss the squeaking

I was at the semi-finals and the funny thing is that Dementieva, in her match against Hingis, was grunting a lot louder than Sharapova. Not what I expected...to hear. Maybe MS was focusing on her pain, or just getting her serve to go over the net, and forgot about the screaming.

Hingis is a magician-fantastic hands at the net and able to change the direction of the ball at will. And...she doesn't make a SOUND when she hits.
