Thread 'Mensik is done'

Mensik's complete mental collapse against Hanfmann already tells me everything I need to know; Mensik will never win a Slam.

Probably won't even win another Masters before his career is done.

Furthermore, he has no weapons in his arsenal, and he's too tall and too lightweight to do any real damage on the court.

His serve is perhaps a bit above average, but his groundstrokes laughable compared to the real heavy hitters on the tour.

I foresee a career path similar to post 2006 Roddick for him; marginal success on fast surfaces, none elsewhere.

Seems like a nobody in tennis terms. Draper is already no.6 and just getting started.

Perhaps it would be better to compare him to someone like Fonceseca.
 
Good question OP. Both are strong players who need more development. I think Mensik has better footwork, but Draper is a lefty. I am going to say Draper has the better career though it will be very close. We won't know for another 15-20 years.

i heard JP Mac say mensik is only teenager and he is still improving and developing and could have explosive multiple majors potential
 
Who will win more Slams? Rune or Mensik? Their claim to fame is a win over Djokovic in a Masters final.

Mensik is 19, Rune is 22 and Draper is already 23. Maybe fair to compare Rune and Draper as they are closer in age. Who knows how Mensik will keep developing as he plays more on tour? Maybe he should be compared to Fonseca who is 18 and more of a peer.
 
Rune will never win a slam (sorry Holger)... I am loving Fonseca's big game. Of the 4 mentioned I think his ceiling is the highest. I am high on Mensik too. At any rate I already don't miss the big 3 or 4, even though 1 of them is still playing.
 
Mensik, so far, appears to be a big choke artist. Granted, he got that one title of significance, but that ain't enough for me to be entirely convinced by him yet. I still find him the more interesting to watch between the two, so I hope it's him.

For Draper, this is theoretically his peak now. The next couple of years should be as good as it gets. Mensik should be getting better for another 4/5 years now.

anyone who cuts down hype of players like rune is a friend to humanity.

We want new talent but we will not go through over hype way of the past anymore.

Not even 200. Sinner was about where Fonseca was, but Sinner had frozen rankings to contend with as well as frozen points. He ended 2020 at #20 in the race but #37 in rankings. Let’s see if Fonseca can beat that.

@DSH if it weren’t for the Covid rankings, Sinner would’ve been seeded at the 2021 Australian Open and would’ve probably ended the year 2021 as a top 8 ranked player. But such is life. Hes number 1 now

Didn’t Sinner compete in the nitto finals 2021 or was he a replacement due to an injury? Even if the ladder he still qualified at a young age.
