Kinda open. Djokovic hasn’t done much there since 2015. Nadal has well documented struggles on indoor. Tsitsipas is in bad form. No one knows how Zverev’s injury comeback will be. Ruud is a non factor on HC. FAA is not really a threat anywhere.

I give Medvedev and Alcaraz really good shots to win it. Medvedev especially thrives on faster HC conditions.

here’s the race to turin:

Medvedev or Alcaraz, depending on who has a better form this hardcourt summer.

I doubt Nadal will even play. Djokovic also possibly not, but if he’s playing then throw him in contention this year

Med or Zed.

Or Carlito

Djokovic will likely be pretty god damn fresh, physically, driven mentally, so now would be as good a chance as he's probably ever going to get.

Will hopefully be a very competitive and fun finals though. Nadal and Djokovic being there and possibly meeting is always box office and indoor HC is probably Med/Zed’s best surface. Plus Raz looked bery bery promising on it last year, as did, believe it or not, Sinner.

Arguably it will be the hardest fought tournament of the season depth wise.

Definitely not sure Medvedev and Zverev will even be there.
With his Slam Djokovic's already guaranted to play (unless he's out of top-20). That means there'll only be 7 tickets.
Nadal Alcaraz and Tsitsipas have a huge gap over the others right now.

That means there are still 4 places. Zverev will probably miss the whole US season and be out of top-10 after USO. And Medvedev looks so bad right now, if he keeps losing in QF of every Masters, he won't even qualify.

Guys like Fritz, Rublev, Hurkacz, Berrettini, Cilic and Sinner have still a fair chance to qualify.

For me it'll me between Alcaraz and Djokovic. .. Zverev if he is there.
Guys like Tsitsipas, Ruud and Auger-Aliassime have no chance- no offense.

I voted Alcaraz. It'll be his first Major title and he'll win his 1st slam in 2023 .

Great question, but I wish we could see who voted for each player.

Why is Nadal not going to play if he will be in contention to finish for the sixth time as the best of the season?

If Novak misses USO, then i think he will be highly motivated to perform his best in Turin. If he plays in NY, then it will be like any other tournament for him.

Real question is who qualifies?

nadal, Djokovic, Alcaraz, and stef are all basically in. Ruud will probably find his way in, as will Medvedev. Zverev I doubt makes it given his injury. So 2 spots: predicting Sinner and Berretini to make their way in.
If all of those folks play Djokovic is the best indoor player followed closely by Medvedev. But groups will be funny and could be super imbalanced given the state of the race. So all bets are off.

Joker hasn't won the tournament since 2015 and hasn't been a finalist since 2018, so his vulnerability is even greater in best-of-three-set matches.

Probably some next gen loser will win it. Everyone on TTW will proclaim that Djokodal are finished and whoever wins the ATP finals can win a slam next year. Then invariably Djokodal win every slam the following year and the cycle continues.:-D

It’s very possible, because his favorite surface is an indoor court and I expect him to make some more noise with his improved game

Yes, he played one of his best matches against Hubi last year at the Finals, if you ask me. Even though he lost in a very close one against Medvedev, I am sure the infamous yawn was more telling than Medvedev would admit.

Mark my words, if they meet at the US open, Medvedev wont even get a chance to defend his title
