You gotta admit, he is truly a sensational player. And I do think that the Shanghai hard courts suit him very well, due to its highly fast bounces, which benefit his ultra-aggressive playing style. Sinner is looking virtually unbeatable on hard courts right now.
On the other hand, Rafael Nadal in 2008 Roland Garros was truly phenomenal. It was one of the most dominant tournaments we have ever seen from a tennis player. Of course, peak Rafa at RG is unbeatable.
With that being said, who would win in a hypothetical Battle of the Surfaces match, 2008 Rafael Nadal vs 2024 Jannik Sinner? The court will be half RG clay and half Shanghai hard court. The match will take place indoors.
Now, it is important to keep in mind that Nadal is not a great indoor hard court player. He has never won the ATP Finals in his career and only ever won 1 indoor HC title, and even then, he did struggle quite a lot. This is why I think that this match-up would be quite interesting.
