Who would you want to win a slam besides your favorite?

If your favorite does not win a specific slam, who would you root for to win that specific slam and why?

My favorite player is Rafael Nadal (obviously). Here's who I would root for should Nadal falter at the following slams:

Australian Open
1. Novak Djokovic: Easy choice. Djokovic is on his way to becoming AO GOAT. Every additional title in Oz will solidify his greatness there. And that would enhance Nadal's legacy b/c he will have played the Wimbledon GOAT (Federer) and AO GOAT (Djokovic). Vamos Djokovic!

2. Andy Murray: Second choice. Murray deserves a title there after 3 Finals losses. Plus more slams will enhance Nadal's legacy as that will give him a 3rd all-time great rival (or at least a mini-great).

French Open
1. David Ferrer: He deserves a slam and plus Nadal can then say he defeated 3 FO champions in finals (Federer, Ferrer, and Djokovic at some point).
2. Novak Djokovic: I suspect he'll get one regardless.

Wimbledon
1. Tomas Berdych: Nadal's pigeon winning a slam will enhance Nadal's legacy :)
2. Juan Del Potro: Del Potro needs to win more slams and enhance Nadal's legacy by giving him more multi-slam rivals.
3. Jo-Wilfred Tsonga: The French deserve a slam champion. Wimbledon is the slam they deserve but not the one they need.

U.S. Open
1. Andy Murray: As I said, the more slams Murray wins, the more it enhances Nadal's legacy.
2. Juan Del Potro: Ditto
3. Novak Djokovic: He deserves more title in Flushing.

In general Del Po is my 2nd favorite player after Djokovic so put him 2nd everywhere. Beyond that:

Oz
Murray: He deserves to get one here as much as Nole deserves an RG. Bad luck for him with the surgery and all as with Nole going out early this year it could have been his chance.

FO
Ferrer: After Nole, probably in a group of guys who can be considered as the 2nd best player in the history of clay to never win an RG (Coria and Medvedev are up there too). Would be a good story for him to end his career with a slam.

Wimbledon
Dimitrov: He is my favorite player of the next gen and this where he is most likely to break through first

USO
Wawrinka: He has had some good runs here beating Murray a few times. Hards are his best chance to win another slam, would be nice to see him cement himself as a true great and not a 1-slam wonder and do it at such an advanced age in this tough era to win a slam.
