SO , FED is very much running away with the slams - while roddick slums , nadal loses edge , safin loses temper & gonzalez chokes after having a break.

I see no other way than to rely on a medical miracle of CLONING . Say , cloning is perfected in yr 2008 - then who'd You clone to stop FED ?

Keep in mind I have great respect for Roger & do wish him the best so that he could win upto 13 slams ( I'm sorry but I'm a terrible person when it comes to Pete Sampras - I think he (Pete ) is a scaled down version of GOD , so although I love Rog , I'm just not gonna wish him on no#14 . )

Personally I'd clone Sampras of 1999 & that'd be enough.
But for the French - I'd like to clone Agassi as well .

Rod Laver, Neale Fraser, Tony Roche ...

Talented lefties all. Not sure they'd win, but they'd put up a good fight.

I didnt want to ad Sampras here, because we have had all those threads.. So here is what I would like to suggest..

Although I was Becker fan growing up. Everyone that knows Becker, knows that on his day, no-one on the planet could come close to him. And has been known to tear people a new (you know what)..But that was on his day!

I guess because of his experience of playing for as many years as he did, and playing so many of the greats from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. I would like to clone the in-form Ivan Lendl to play Roger.. Not only do I think he could match him for power and court coverage. I just know that his steely eastern European stubborness simply wouldnt allow Federer to get ahead of himself.. And if Federer was getting on top of him at the net. Then Lendl would give him one flat in the middle of the chest to remind him to lose the attitude (a.k.a J Mac)

How about some sort of cross breeding program - where we fuse together Sampras, Borg, Laver and ME. Just kidding - Sampras is a great player but theres no way im hitting that.

Patty Rafter never lost to the young Roger. Granted, that was a different Roger, but I still think Rafter's serve-n-volleyWarrior ethos would give him trouble.
While we're cloning....maybe a left-handed Rafter?

And as long as we're delving into genetic mutation (and without getting all X-Men on you), what about a 6 foot 3 Johnny Mac who can play from everywhere? Sort of a Guga/Safin/Mac cross-mojonation. Tough on clay, too. Probably beat Rafa while he's at it.

I would clon a hybrid:
Serve: Goran Ivanisevic
Forehand: Fernando Gonzalez
Backhand: Gaston Gaudio
NetPlay: Patrick Rafter
Mind: Rafael Nadal

I think that my superclone will be by far much better than Roger :D

IMO I think definitely Sampras would have the mental and game strength to regularly challenge Federer, and I wish there could be a way to have a prime Sampras battle Fed. Muster would have dug in as well...and Agassi would have rode emotion to bring out his own best with good results overall. Honestly, I never got to watch Borg matches as it was rather before my time, and never had the interest to go back to view them. McEnroe...would have self destructed if Fed was on his game and lost the majority I believe. But if Mac was on, Fed would have that look like he's about to cry.
