I know given Fed's age that the answer might seem obvious, after all he'll be 38 this time next year and Djokovic is a lot younger, but considering he's reached at least the final these past three years and that Novak has failed to even get to the QF stage I thought it'd be an interesting question to pose.

Who ya got?

It's not :p Djokovic by a landslide.

Yeah, the answer is definitely Djokovic, but it's closer here than at a lot of tournaments. Fed's been stellar at Indian Wells in recent years. Since turning 30, I think he's missed just one final (of the times he's played). Only converted two of those, but if he keeps going deep, then all it takes is one good day at the office.

But yeah, Djokovic has ample time to win more titles here and I'd be totally shocked if he never has a good run here again.

You really think so, even despite Novak's poor results since 2017? I'm really not so sure you know.
How many more years do you think Federer will even be playing? He'll be 38 this time next year, he's not going to keep making finals and considering he's lost to Delpo and Thiem the last two years it seems unlikely he'll go down as favourite in any future finals...

Funny enough I voted Roger. He likes the weather and is clearly freshest at start of season. Novak meanwhile I think isn't caring much for Masters moving forward.

Djokovic has at least 3 more years to add another one if he stays fit and in form. 2017 and 2018 were not much of a surprise when you see how out of form he was. He shouldn't have even played in 2018. This year was a big disappointment for him though considering how he's played in the last 9 months. Seems like when Vadja is not around he gets complacent and loses focus which reminds me of what happened at Canada last year. Federer is pushing 38 soon so he would be a disadvantage considering Djokovic is 6 years younger with more time.

Come on. Let’s be real. Djoker is far more likely to win IW than Federer is. I would say that Djoker is more likely to win another IW than Federer and Nadal combined.

Is Djoker more likely to win another IW than Thiem? That is a closer call.

If Novak keeps deciding to skip the entire post-AO season and come into IW every year cold turkey, there is a reasonable chance he won't be able to overcome the rust and never win another title at IW. Fed meanwhile has consistently shown great form at IW, either winning or only losing to the champion in each of his past 8 attempts at the tournament.

I think its close and I don't think its unreasonable to envision a scenario where Fed wins 1 more IW next year and Novak never wins again, resulting in Fed ending up ahead 6-5.

This isn't the same question as "who is more likely to win another AO/FO/Wimb/USO" as that is Nole by a landslide given that he is much younger and will be planning his schedule prioritizing those events and attempting to peak for them. Novak isn't planning anything around peaking at IW, it will be more just "I'll play it by ear and see if I happen to win it great."

Djokovic. 6 years younger. It really is that simple.
Federer might play the event once more, twice maximum.

I know Fed’s age is a meme by now... but if we’re going by who is most likely to ever win the tournament, the mere fact that Fed has at best 2 more attempts at it (which is being optimistic I think) should make the answer pretty clear

Federer has no chance...if fit Nadal always favourite at IW and Thiem a close 2nd. Djokovic has struggled when ball bounces high since his comeback, remember at USO he was really struggling until the roof was closed when we saw his best form.

Djokovic is a very different player and he will match or better Borg Wimbledon wins.

IW though will be dominated by players who love clay as its very similar conditions
