Why all the hate for Wozniaki?

You guys should hate not the Danish girl but should hate the rules of the game.

There should be limit on the height of the moon balls.
The number of moon shots allowed per set.

I am not a fan of Wozniacki's game as well but she knows how to play and use the % of error to her advantage.

Other than going mano y mano, serve and volley or all court playa; tis' the game of mooning!

snoooozze........

Yeah, your skill along with your patience will be tested. Wozz knows it not only Offense can win you game but Defense as well.

No, she's not a grinder, defensive player or a counterpuncher. She is a pusher. Majority of balls hit to the middle of the court, a few feet from the baseline. The other 3 will actually play with the opponent's shots in that they can and do create angles when they need to or are able to. Woz doesn't.

If she thought anything of the sort, she should shut the f*ck up within her mind, as her entire career has been one of lumbering around the court like some slow-witted statue trying to move on a glue pad, and routinely gets hung up on one approach to a match as seen last night.

She had the match won several times and screwed it up in typical Kuznetsova style. That's why she was never able to win more majors considering the talk about her ability/expectation during the dawn of the "Russian revolution." It is clear she's extremely lucky to have won her majors.

Wozniacki should hope to run into Kuznetsova in every major going forward, as it will be little more than a walkover.

While I agee with comments about Kuzzy, whatever she is, she has to more Slams than the Slamless Wonder. The number of times that Kuzzyworked herself into a winning, or very favorable position, only to blow an easy volley or overhead was sickening. And for all of talents scurrying around the world winning minor tournaments and "going deep" in bigger ones, her lack of success in Slams is noticeable-and getting talked about more and more, much to her annoyance(leading to embarrassing dismissals of family memories and a big secret campaign to get a new coach, like I care). It's not like she's had some 10-8 3 set losses in Slam finals, she can't even REACH them, and her loss at Wimbledon was particularly hideous: she's playing a munchkin, and seemed to say, I'm the World's Number One, I'll bunt the ball down the middle of the court a lot, and you'll fall over from fear. The only one who did any falling over was her, and she got blasted off the court. If she got broken 3 times in one set with that 79 mph frisbee-excuse me, 2nd serve-against Kuzzy, fer chrissakes (and double faulted twice in the tiebreaker despite those lolipops) why would anybody expect her to enjoy much success against a healthy Serena, who often gets a few cheap points because she actually has a serve and can blast away the meatballs in her sleep? That she and Znovera are the top two ranked women currently says a lot about the WTA, and what it says ain't good...

Yet, he complain about members in here hating his favorite player. Some people are strange.

Said the gal who whines about anyone posting anything about Wozniacki (see the Wozniacki imitates Nadal thread), Federer and Sharapova, then turns around and attacks Serena, Nadal, and anyone else you cannot stand.

Not too smooth, Madame Hypocrite.

Speak for yourself chief. Average at best, somewhat Amazonian, oddly rounded lower face area for someone who is supposed to be in such great physical condition. Big girl, no question, suspected donut eater, you can have her.

"Suspected Donut Eater".....LOL:), She looks like Matina Hingis after having an alergic reaction to a bee sting on her face!

I think she is probably attractive if you are over 40 with a beer belly or been married so long that pretty much anything different is attractive. But I have never heard anyone state what a looker she is. She looks like she went up to catch a fly ball and cought it in the chin!

But you do the same. You complain about people condemning Serena and yet you go into threads and criticize Sharapova, Wozniacki, Federer, etc. like it is your full time job. How can you possibly berate others for doing something that you are the "pro" at? That is silly. Come on.

From a fan's perspective, frustration with Woz is understandable because she has been such a disappointment at the Slams and she does invite the "pusher" label with her style of play. However, hating Woz and repeatedly denigrating her game is weird, and most of the people who do that are the ones who use "No. of Grand Slams won" as their sole criterion for liking a player. Everyone knows who these fellows are.

She's alright. Not great, not horrible.

Aside from the fact that she's kinda cute, everything else seems to be working against her. Personality wise she seems pretty bland to me; fairly uncharismatic and vanilla. Not to mention I'm not very fond of how she's easily the most defensive counter-puncher in the modern game. And I don't blame the haters, I cannot watch any of her matches in all its entirety; she's that boring.

Yeah there's also a lot of hate for her being a pusher and somehow getting to #1,, blah, blah, blah. I'm not too focused on that but what is almost universally embraced about the Woz is how completely inept she is at slams. She's almost a non-factor in the draw given how she can almost be counted on to lose to whoever's having that two week hot streak.

I don't really hate her, but I don't really like her either. But i can definitely see why people do hate her.

Not so fast, guy. The difference between that hypocrite and myself is that I never deny making critical observations about players. The troll you defend is a habitual liar who is constantly called out in his/her double standards and hypocritical behavior in every forum he/she posts in (after pretending he/she does not post that way), which prevents anyone from taking his/her crap seriously.

Even if she is bland as a piece of wood, it would not matter if she had a great game. The problem is that she tries to bask in the media attention for not reaching the ultimate goal in the sport, or in recent months, become defensive in the Safina mode. When she comes off like that, its as though she feels she should not be questioned about her slamless status, when the same thing happened to Jankovic (even earning the negative opinion of Federer) and Safina.

Boring would not be an issue--at least from my POV--if she was a real majors contender. For example, Lendl was called "robotic," "cold" and just plain 'ol boring, but his game was solid--his talent could not be denied with his rapid rise to the top and successful battles against the absolute best of his era--something Wozniacki cannot say, and what's worse--she behaves as though that's not her hardline goal. In a way, she exhibits the personality of one who will just be happy if she stumbles into a majors title, but not because she had the determination to play "lights out" tennis to obtain as many majors as possible.

I think people are being too hard on Caroline it is NOT her fault she reached number one. Do I think Caroline is the most talented player of her generation? The answer is NO. Kvitova is more talented but I don't sense she has Wozniacki's consistency. Kvitova and the young female players need to step it up or we will see Caroline continue to be number one.

She does seem a little bit defensive when questioned about her major-less no. 1 status. Actually, she is quite defensive. On the other hand, her sponsorship/endorsement money largely rests on her leveraging her ranking, so it's understandable.

The women's field is so inconsistent that I think Woz will eventually win a major title.

I neither like or dislike Wozniacki. Personality wise, she just seems rather boring. She's probably nice in real life, but there's this underlying need for attention, or the need to be seen as "sunshine." Getting a little bored with her kangaroo stories and other "attention-getters." She needs to focus more on getting a slam. These are serious times for her, knock off all the tomfoolery and get down to business.

That said, I hope her consistency does help her get a major. She seems rather nice, overall.

I get a little annoyed when I see people calling Wozniacki an attention-seeker. I disagree. Things like her kangaroo story are being blown way out of proportion on this board--everyone is taking it all a little too seriously. Caroline was just kidding around, why is everyone being so hard on her?

On the court Wozniacki is very different. She takes her job very seriously--you can see it when she plays. Back off a little bit, people.

Yeah, I don't understand that either. Doing whatever her particular brand of shtick is in press conferences(don't kid yourselves, they all do it, they just do it differently) doesn't take anything away from trying to win tournaments. The two aren't related, these people can walk and talk at the same time.

Try not to get annoyed. People view things differently. If she was funny doing it, it wouldn't bother me. It's just that she comes off as not funny and trying too hard to me.

Not trying to be hard on her, but imo, she lacks in the humor department, and what's more, it doesn't add to her persona to me.

whats wrong with bashing the beauty millionaire by some folks who all they want is a little entertainment? She is so lucky to be where she is, has everything she wants in her life and cant even be touch by words of some uknown souls on the internet?

If I get my hands on her I will spank her broad ass so hard it stays red for the rest of tournament and I want a handful of her hair as well.

I just find her play boring. She doesn't do anything with a lot of shots that I could put away and win the point.

It's great that she can get everything back, is consistent, and fit, but it's boring to watch.

Personally I'm not a big fan of women's tennis, and Wozniacki's game is boring to watch - But I don't hate it or her. Why the lot of you have this irrational hate for a person you don't know, I'll never understand. She plays tennis, and like most tennis players don't influence the world on a global scale. Did she bomb the WTC? Let Anthrax loose on a plane? Fund terrorism? WHAT she done to you all personally to harbor such ill feelings? It seems like many of you go out of your way to hate people you know absolutely nothing about their character.

Wrong again.
Clijsters beat Caro at the 2009 USO final and she IS responsible.

Keep up with more of your nonsense then more people will have you on their ignore list.

If Clijsters and Serena were absent from the 09 USO, Venus would likely have made the final. No way was Caro beating Venus in a major final.

Woz is obviously not a power player, but her shots have decent 'roll' on them and her backhand can penetrate the court.

Some of her matches can be boring, but if she's playing a power player and she demostrates good defense the match can have some entertaining value. She's had some pretty decent matches against Clijsters.

Kinda in the same way as Jankovic, although Jankovic was actually fast while Woz seems to just anticipate well. Jankovic also had big wins over the top players by the time she made it to #1, won angainst Venus, Serena, Clijsters, Davenport, etc - the only top player she couldn't beat was Henin...

Woz has yet to beat one of the top power players...

We don't know that. Point is Kim was the ONLY player that beat her in the final, or the one who is responsible for stopping Caro.

A lot of things posted on this forum we don't know. However based on past history and logic, it is safe to assume Woz would not beat Venus (reasonably healthy Venus)...

She has yet to do so...

As a matter of fact, out of all the big champions, Woz has come closet to beating Clijsters...

Also, Clijsters used to play alot like Woz does now. She was far more a defensive player, then she added offense - lost some consistency - but kept her speed. Woz needs to do the same thing, hopefully she can.

Winning will cure everything... Hopefully she picks up a slam soon or gets to the finals at least. I think this is Serena's tournament to lose this year though.

It is no wonder you have a long TW history of being banned on many occasions: posting lies with no bearing on the truth.

Regarding wozniacki: she only has herself to blame for her failure for not stepping up to win majors. If she cannot defeat the eventual winner she faced, then she was not good enough, while majors newbies Li and Kvitova proved they had the ability.

So Serena's two wins over Woz, was one with Woz having match points and the other Woz retiring?

Are you sure?

That's their H2H, but in the other, she was down a set to Serena (6-4) and managed to go up 1-0 in the 2nd set before bailing.

I think Rory, along with pretty much any other Irishman on the face of the planet would happily cut your head off if he heard you call him English.

Would you be happy if we all called you a USC and UCLA die hard fan? Well, think of something about 1 billion times as important as that. That's just scratching the surface to how the Irish, the Welsh and the Scots feel about being labeled "English".

Yes I'm sure. Thundervolley correctly noted that Woz was down a set in the second match before retiring(6-4, 0-1 Williams led it in the Tour Championships '09).

Both players have gone through a lot since then, so I'm not sure how much those two matches really mean.

In Spain we say -no matter if you are man and woman: "you play like Arancha (Sánchez Vicario)", when you play against someone who puts the ball as near the clouds as possible ....

And Wozniaki is the new Arancha ... but much more attractive ....

P.D. Excuse for my English.

Everywhere else, we say "you play like Nadal"
