Why are the players in commercials for hotel tennis courts so bad?

Recently I was staying at a really nice hotel with a large number of courts and great tennis program. When I turned the TV on in my room I saw them describe the hotel amenities and they showed the courts and mentioned how great the programs are and that clinics and lessons are available.

While they're doing this they show this woman use a FH grip who swings at the volley and then moves to hit an overhead and keeps her chest facing the court and hits it into the net and shakes her head before moving off the court.

If you walk around the courts and watch the clinics and players no one plays like that. All of the people that I watched were what you'd expect to see at a nice club and at a decent level.

Seems like whenever they have tennis on TV or show people playing they're just awful. Do they do that on purpose so non tennis players will sign up or do they hire actors that have no idea how to play? If you recorded any points from any actual players there it would be better than the highly polished promotional video.

Not sure why, but this just annoys me

I guess they hired a TV ad production company which hired actors to create the promotional video. Most actors don't know how to play tennis. I've seen an advert for a new housing complex with tennis court and the people who played tennis in that advert are terrible players, or maybe they never played tennis before.

Why not just film some points at an actual clinic using high quality cameras? Then edit it to a point or 2 that looked good?

What's the point of actors that don't know how to play?

Actors got paid for acting.

Video production company would need some permission to film at an actual tennis club and the tennis players need to sign some legal papers (actor release form) if they want to be in the movie. That's too much of a hassle. It's about saving time and money. The Video production company would have everything already setup (actors, location, scripts etc). If they want to use regular club tennis players they will have extra works to do. The hotel just give the job to the Video producer and the video producer take care of everything (actors, filming, editing, etc). There is a deadline to meet and you wouldn't want to mess around with arranging inexperienced actors (club tennis players) and telling them what to do, what to sign, how much you'll get paid etc etc etc.

Just think it like this: when they made a Wimbledon tennis movie for cinemas, the director would not use Federer, Borg, McEnroe, Djokovic, Nadal, etc to act for the movie. Why? Because Federer, Djokovic etc were real Pro tennis players and they have their own schedule, tournaments, etc, meaning they have their own job. It would be too much of a hassle to make them act in the movie, so they just use actual Actors to act in the movie because it's their job to act in a movie and they have time to do it because it's their job.

Models put stuff on their Bios like, can horseback ride, can play tennis etc. The auditions are almost 100% looks based ie the auditionner takes a Polaroid. Then they show up for the shoot and, well you know the rest...

The answer is in your post (bolded).

The ads probably also are meant to appeal to the guests who don't play tennis but want to test it out while on vacation. They would find the level of play of experienced players intimidating. Someone who is barely able to hold a racket will encourage them to give it a try.
BTW, everyone has moved on to Pickleball now.

They once let me play on the best hotel's courts in Santorini, a week after I wasn't their guest anymore :)
Probably good advertising for them.

Lol it was cement and the ball bounced sooo high...
