Why aren't Nishikori, Schwartzman, Pella, Edmund, Garin, Cuevas and literally anyone outside of Aus/Canada/USA playing for world at the Laver Cup?

Claims to be Europe v the world and yet the only top 10 player from 'the world' Nishikori isn't playing. The only other top 20 player from 'the world' (besides injured Anderson) Schwartzman also isn't playing, Then you've got #22 Pella, #32 Edmund, #33 Garin and #43 Cuevas all in the top 50 and yet none are playing.

kei talked about wanting to play lc but said the timing is bad. not sure if they approached diego or not because he seemed to really enjoy it last year. it seems like jmac is the one approaching people or one of them and clearly he doesnt know the concept of the world. delpo was going to play last year but had to opt out last minute due to injury and then kevin was part of this year but also ended his year early so you have to factor that in and plus at hte last minute ilegit think jmac just goes for guys he knows and will sign up. i do hope they can bring it to asia soon and that way kei can play without worrying about his body breaking down too much.

I believe Medvedev and Khachanov chose to play the St Petersburg tournament (home country) instead of Laver Cup and then the rest weren't ranked high enough. Isn't Djokovic (Serbian) Slavic though? (I'm not great with nationalities and origins but I believe it is?)

it was just an example that players from different countries were approached and even played, like kevin. i think the line up was definitely better last year. like i said if they bring it to asia one year maybe kei will feel better about wanting to join.

They are always matched up against each other. It is unique they are on the same side for once. So this would be a bad marketing decision.

I don't know much about Ryder Cup but did they start it when the balance between Europe and US was at arguably its all time worst?
