Why attending the NY Open blows away the US Open

Attended the NY Open today.
It was much better than the US Open.

This was an amazingly convenient venue,
and INFINITELY more enjoyable than the US Open.

1) Easier parking. No lines. No traffic jam. No nothing.
Just pull up into the huge vacant parking lot, and walk 20 feet to the front door of the stadium.

2) No crowds. No security BS. No nothing.

3) Great seats. No jockeying for bleacher seats.
You don't lose your seat if you get up.
Sit anywhere you want.
I had an entire section of the stadium all to myself.

4) Great view of 2 courts at the same time.
No twisting your neck

5) Best of all? The weather.
No oppressive 100 degree US Open heat, sun, humidity.
Nice and cool, and indoors, with perfect lighting.

6) Dirt cheap. For $20, this was a steal.
US Open is triple the price

What a great experience.
So relaxing and enjoyable.

What a great way to get some tennis fix in the middle of winter.

I am absolutely heading back later this week
to see Isner, Tiafoe, Millman, and Rubin, MackMcD.

Totally agree with you regarding the lines and seating availability and pricing. Only down side is the overall quality of the field. Sure tiafoe isner and a few other top guys but can’t compete with a major’s field

I went to the tournament in Munich one year, and I really enjoyed how low key and accessible it was compared to Montreal. I sat two tables from Baghdatis, walked past Haase, Bolleli, Kohlschreiber, and some people just went up to Stan on a practice court to take a picture. No security detail, no major fences blocking fans, no mobs of fans running to see anyone. It was awesome.

Yea but Federer, and RAFA isn't playing in it. so you can't see the 4000 RPM topspin from RAFA or 100 mph forehands from federer

No crowds is the understatement; I’m watching two Americans, Eubanks and Escobedo and the officials outnumber the spectators. Admittedly it’s a 2nd round qualifying match but even so.

I know its just the first year, but with the amount of spectators here... do you think it will be enough to keep the event?

Yeah, its great for us, the spectators to have empty seats, but it doesn't quite look good on TV, for sponsors, or revenue for the event.

This was discussed last year. This is the second year of a 10-year contract supposedly.. I'll enjoy it while it lasts

Chilling with Lleyton, Sam, John and Bob at local club.

Heading over to the open now. If I see a guy with a pony tail I'll assume it's TTPS and introduce myself.

J
might be heading there friday.

I'll see if I can get more tickets.

Isner coming into this event on a 6 match losing streak despite being ranked inside the top 10.

Huge chance for Tomic to get his first win over Isner and his first top 10 win in a few years.

Isner is getting into so many of these rallies on Tomic's serves yet keeps belting that ball way long. He's done it at least 10 times. Stop hitting so hard.

Isner had a big chance to go 0-30 on Tomic's serve but belted the ball long.

Tomic holds and now Isner is serving to stay in it.

Tomic moves very well to win the first point. 0-15.

Isner had the whole court and yet again he hits it into the net. How is he top 10? My god. He should be at 4-1 right now not down 2-3 lmao.
