Why did it take until late 2014 for Federer to overtake Murray in their H2H?

In between he got a ton of losses lol. Novak has beat him in 5 slam finals. 4 at AO, freaking 4. And another one at RG. Novak crushed his dream to ever win a single Australian Open. He reached 5 finals, another few semis and so many times he was outclassed by Nole. Few bagels in finals to put more shame as well.
Remind how many times your boy lost in straights at a Slam final (other than against Fed and Med) and how many times he lost a Slam final in a 5 setter? I tend to forget.

Murray started to lose his edge over Federer following his back surgery towards the end of 2013. He spent most of 2014 on the comeback trail.

I think Murray‘s game used to bore Federer to play at less than high intensity at smaller tournaments outside of the Slams. Counterpunchers like Murray and Nadal can do that against offensive opponents who like shorter points. Murray was good enough to beat a ‘bored’ Federer unlike 99% of the other players on tour, but a full engaged Federer at Slams was a different story.

Federer in his first matches against Nadal --> 1-6
Federer in his last matches against Nadal --> 6-1

Federer in his first matches against Murray --> 2-6

But, but Federer fans say he was past his prime since 2009 because Djokovic consistently beats him since. So, you are saying that he actually does better against Nadal and Murray (not to mention his winning % against the rest of the tour between 2011-2018) once he got past his prime:eek: Was he speaking the truth 6 years ago when he said he was playing his best tennis and he had to improve his game to keep up with the advances made by the rest of the tour?

Nah, these are just cherry picking stats. Total Djokovic has lost vs Murray 2 times in slams his whole career.. Murray has lost a countless amount of times. I thank Andy because that RG title would be much difficult to win if Wawrinka was in final ;) Once Nole was able to recover from the nerves, the gap between him and Andy was astronomical as it should be.

Remind me who took out Stan for your boy so that he would get a chance at completing his CGS? I tend to forget.

Remind me who straight-setted your boy each time they met on grass at Wimbledon, one of your boy's most successful events? I tend to forget.

Remind me who made sure your boy would not regain his world #1 ranking after straight-setting him at one of his most successful events? I tend to forget.

Please help me out.

Already thanked Andy for taking out Stan. Andy is much much more easier than Stan to take out.

Andy is fourth wheel in biggest tussle in tennis history between 3 super heavyweights.

Maybe Novak got lucky in Wimb 2014 that a healthy Murray was not in the draw and Murray would have beaten Novak like in 2013 Wimb ;)
Murray was beaten and battered by old Roger in 2015. It was very bad. I was cheering for Murray just like 2012 but he is just so useless.

Nothing he could do with Rog at Wimbledon though. That was a masterclass. No knock to Murray on that one. He got battered at Cincy though and Djokovic too. I do think Murray would have done better against Federer if he had his 2016 form.

He was probably weaker than a peak Federer/ Nadal/Djokovic and the 2004 Roddick but maybe he was par with a peak 2004 Hewitt. 5th/6th highest grass peak since 2002 is far from useless.

I just counted the whole 2014 as a back injury year for my agenda but it still possible Murray was playing with the pain.
He got surgery so he wouldn't have pain though. He just fell behind the other 3 because of that and his game wasn't clicking like it was in 2013. He played a great match against Djokovic at the USO though but had some bad losses.

Who was that guy who straight-setted your boy at his 2nd most successful Slam, something no other guy has ever managed to do, not even the most successful player in Wimbledon's history and certainly not Stan? I tend to forget.

True but a fourth wheel with 14 title wins over those 3 (12 of them big ones) and 8 of them against your boy.

It's possible that he had a chance to beat Roger in AO. But it would still be 55/45 Roger in AO2016.

His best chance to take Roger out would have been in clay season in 2015/16 but they have never met on clay.

I will change it to bad form.

so according to fraudereesians fraud could not keep up with the demands of bo3 tennis after 26 years which is quite ridiculous and hilarious at the same time........the reality is that there were a few players who got the best of fraud by out-defending him........guillermo canas and giles simon spring to mind.......even when murray beat fed in 2006 cinci and all those matches in 2008, i remember fed sounding like a case of sour grapes stating that murray can't keep winning with that kind of tennis.......

murray is definitely not one of the players fed enjoyed playing, i am sure about it.......it destroyed his rhythm.......

Yea I think he would have had a shot at Federer at the AO and maybe Wimbledon as well but Federer wasn't 100% there anyway so the win wouldn't have meant as much. Also, as said the clay season which was Murray's best level on clay of his career.

He has good form on grass. If grass season was much longer he would have fared even better I think but he has been fourth wheel everywhere. During Rafa's worst year in 2015, he straight setted Murray. And Murray was ending the year as number 2. I mean how weak can you get. Lose to Rafa on his worst surface during his worst year when you are playing well.

Rare to see a Djokovic fan ripping into Murray so much.

Nadal battered Murray 17-7 in the H2H.
Did they even play a single match during Lendl Murray (2012-2013)? I can’t remember a single one.

Nadal mostly had little trouble with Muzzah tho aside from the high profile US and AO losses

I think it's a combination of Fed becoming more aggressive in his old age along with Murray's defensive skills slowly declining.

Remind me who straight-setted Rafa earlier that season on his worst surface but on Rafa's best surface at his biggest home tournament in front of all his home fans? I tend to forget.

Got plenty of trouble at 2009 Rotterdam, 2011 Tokyo, 2015 & 2016 Madrid too.

Djokovic did it entire year because Rafa was not even near his best. I mean even then Andy lost.

And home tournament gives you no advantage. Otherwise Andy also lost to Rafa in his home tournament :p while being ranked no. 2 and Rafa having disastrous year. In fact, iirc Andy has never beaten Rafa in UK ever. 3 losses in Wimby and another 2 in YEC. Am I counting correctly?

No, Andy has never beaten Rafa on his own home soil but he has beaten Rafa twice on HIS home soil.

Federer became inconsistent outside of Slams in 2008-10. Taking advantage of that Murray's vultured many wins in bo3 during that period. But still whenever they met in Slams Federer destroyed Murray.
This. OP is one if the most disingenuous posters in this forum. Always cherry picking facts or misrepresenting them to suit his anti Fed agenda
