Why does Nadal ...

why does nadal always have to pick his butt?

does anyone else notice this?

note: Nadal is actually my favorite player, but Im having trouble understanding why he is the only player on the tour I see picking his butt.

It's like a pitcher illegally using vasoline to get extra stuff on the ball. he's got some "material" down there that he puts on the ball for extra spin :D

you know, i doubt he really knew that he was doing it after every single point until everybody noticed it and started talking about it. now he just does it out of habit...

The butt-picking just helps him stall even more than usual between points. Pick the strings, towel off a few times, jump around a bit, pick his rear end, think about serving, towel off again, pick his rear end some more.

I can take a nap between points on his service games.

What I don't understand is why they're not implementing the point rule. I mean, it's supposed to exist, why isn't anything happening? If Nadal does it more than once in a match they should start docking points.

because you cant disrupt a player's service sequence...
some are faster (americans) some are slower (nadal)
because if you are the player with the slower service sequence and someone yells at you to hurry the f*ck up ... you'd proly rush over the net and deck the mofo for disrupting you before you serve...

cuz if u do that to me... your face will be the shape of my racquet

the time before a player serves is when everything is calm and in the zone...
if you disrupt that ... you disrupt the entire game

I'll PM you my PayPal info if you're serious. You've never been around military folk, have you? Falling asleep in 30 to 45 seconds is nothing.

Picking your rear for 30 to 45 seconds, now that's something.

its just how it goes on the court
disrupting someone's game on purpose = will result in deadly retaliations

As Everyone know, Tennis is a game of physical as well as mental. Disrupting your opponent should be part of your game. By picking his butt and stalling between points, Nadal is doing just that, disrupting his opponent's rhythm

but technically, its the server that sets the pace and rhythm of time inbetween points. technically the receiver is supposed to be basically ready to go when the server is ready to go (obvious exception is that say the server hits an ace and just has to move like 2 feet, he should give the receiver enough time to at least walk across ot the other side)

i agree its the SERVER that sets the pace NOT the receiver..
because when opponents of Nadal are serving... Nadal HAS to be ready doesnt matter if they serve fast or slow

i wish it was more. a few months ago i play playing a ladder match, and some guy had pissed me off calling me a dik because i jumped in the air when he had a sitter smash. i was trying to make him miss legally, he won the point then he called me a dik for doing it.

i was so fired up he called me a name.

then after i won the first set 6-2

then broke him the next game, as we changed sides and toweled off i told him my goal for the second set was to bagel him. he then quit calling me a terrible sport and cussed me while he left.

in basketball you can talk smack, but in tennis it seems there is no room for smack talk

Depends, tennis players have their own methods of gamesmanship, Nadal with the time spent between points, Stepanek with the sprint back to his chair between games and Kiefers stare down to name a few.

Doesn't he pick his butt with his right hand? So after the match when you're shaking his hand, you're basically picking Rafa's butt. LOL

not so because he is picking outside of his shorts. im sure if he put his hand down his pants and picked he would get a warning

You've got maximum 20 seconds between points according to the tennis rule book. Most pros spend around 15 seconds between points but Nadal usually gets ready to serve around 30 seconds after a point, which I hate to see.
