Why dont coaches enter ITA results on time? Does it matter outside top 75?

There are some teams that have at least two wins not entered into ITA results-some of the wins are 3 weeks old. Now these are not teams in contention for NCAAs unless they win their conference championship. Are ITA rankings used for anything outside the top 50 or 75? It hurts players' UTR as if results arent in iTA they are not in UTR either. UTR is used for seeding and/or selection into prize $ tournaments and sometimes for MD selection/seeding (after ITA ranking) for fall Regionals.

I noticed this when looking at the college tennis ranks site and saw some teams well short of 10 wins. Some had wins that didnt count vs D2 or D3, some really were that bad with mostly losses, but some just had not input all their wins. Most were decent MMs. In addition there are 14 D1 teams with no wins reported; are there that many teams are totally winless at D1? Possible last minute doubleheaders for bubble teams?

When I recently met the sports info person at my son's MM college, I told her what a great job she was doing-results in, news article out in 24 hours or less, pre match articles, weekly emails with highlights from all the sports she covers, etc. She told me a lot of college coaches have to enter results themselves, and maybe that's why some go missing. The coaches make sure the results are reported to their league-too bad they dont make sure they are in ITA database.

I have never had any personal involvement with this process, so I am not sure what is entailed at each school. However, I have been told by some with knowledge that many coaches are responsible for doing it, and because it is only affecting the ITA, in their minds, it isn't a top priority on their calendar. If it comes to a conference, NCAA, or school athletic department requirement they are on it, but for the ITA its priority 10 on their list of 1-20. Many of them don't take the ITA rankings that seriously, and they don't see it as critical to anything prior to supporting the NCAA field. There are even coaches out there trying to master the in and outs of social media, so entering ITA scores when it isn't something that really affects their team is going to be slack

What Nacho said.

A coach whose team is not a threat to make the NCAA tournament will likely not bother with this.

Anyone who thought that the ITA would be a clearinghouse for results is mistaken. Certainly, not yet.

The ITA has bigger fish to fry, such has recruiting new officials. And, they haven't even caught that fish yet, let alone get it into a pan ; )

I personally don't think there's any excuse to not do it. How long can it possibly take to enter the score of a match? And it's incorrect to say the results for non tournament teams don't matter because the teams in the tournament could have losses or wins against those teams and it does affect their ranking where that team is ranked.

Plus the ITA results page is just an easy way to keep tabs on all the scores around the country (I click on every D1 men's result when they come in new and glance over the scores). Should be an absolute requirement.

The home team is required to enter scores. Often times if they lose they do not bother to do so. It is time consuming as everything is done using a drop down menu to enter every player and every result.
