Why don't they show more back perspective camera angle at tennis matches?

I love the back perspective camera angle where the ball really comes at you at real time speed and you can see how the stroke is done. Unfortunately they show it maybe once every eclipse.

I really prefer the lower angles too. It more closely represents watching tennis live than that way over the top angle that is used.

because tennis production is awful? Why do they use certain tennis ball colors on surfaces that provide no contrast on TV? On clay use a blue ball, why yellow?

Camera angle from the back is always superior as it allows for far better depth perception, spin, power etc.

This has been a pet peeve of mine since watching tennis in the 80s. So don’t expect them to ever change. Why? Because 80 year old cronies run these huge companies giving production jobs to some top of his class Yale grad that never hit a tennis ball in his life.

I think it's about to change as more people adopt HDTVs and widescreen displays. Before it was just difficult to capture the play at a player's level on a 4:3 screen. With widescreen, however, it should be easier, at least I really hope so.

Very true. I've been saying for quite sometime that TV coverage needs to move forward when it comes to tennis and I hope to see that with HD wider screen format will help make this happen. The lower angle is a much better view for home viewing and I hope they start to realize this and take advantage of it.

Well.. I'm guessing the sponsors want as much airtime as they can get. With the low camera angle, the sponsor logo's are hard to see if I remember correctly?

Personally I'm not a fan at all of the lower camera angles, it's good for replays.. That's about it.
Camera angle is fine by me the way it is...

Yea, i agree. They should have more coverage from the back. Easier to see how the pros actually play. Dont know why no one suggested this to the people-in-charge yet.

I've been saying this since I started watching tennis on TV, it makes it more intense, when you watch tennis with this standard camera angle, you only see the ball going left or right, you can't see the subtle differences between players, it makes the game look too easy, you can't see player's fine movement, ball rotation, and many other things visible from that perspective. Of course, that could be tiring to some people (maybe too intense) so they shouldn't do it all the time, maybe 50-50?
