Why don't they show more tennis matches at this camera angle?

I agree, that angle shows the speed and spin of the ball far better than the wide-angle lense that's normally shown. I honestly don't know why the don't use it more. As a tennis fan it's always great to see how much harder and more accurately they hit the ball.

With the rise of the high resolution TV, they really should show tennis matches at this camera angle predominantly.

I agree - assuming you are talking about the angle from the corner on the replay of the 1st point. You should have included a time in the video starting from the viewpoint you liked - because it starts with the boring high up baseline shot we've gotten forever.

And the ironic thing is I end up getting that angle at the tournaments I attend - Madrid and Montreal so far this year and that's more or less what I have in Shanghai next month. The view you get on TV is usually reserved for the tournament sponsors or longtime season ticket holders and unobtainable.

For some reason they like showing the serve motion at eye level, but then switch to the traditional top down view for the point, which disappoints me. The eye level view gives a much much better idea of the amount of spin on every shot.

no way, i love the standard bird's eye view. that way the players aren't obstructing your vision of the ball. this other view is good for replays but not for the whole match, that would suck.

Yeah, plus you often can't see the baseline on the far court. Kind of frustrating!

The camera angle that really annoys me is when they do a super closeup on the service box for the serve.

the issue i have with the bird's eye view is that every ball (barring lobs) looks like a laser flat shot with little spin, so the dynamics of a point aren't as interesting, at least to me.

The view I hate is the "nose bleed" view. Why would anyone even go to see a match having to watch from such a distance? I'd rather be at home in my recliner watching.

The best angle I've ever seen is this 4K demo on SportFrance: It's close enough, shows the arc of the ball, the effort by the players, and the wide corner angle for replays is not my favorite, this combination is better than what is used today.
