Why I believe that Djokovic will win the 2023 US Open on Sunday

My #1 reason for thinking Djokovic will win on Sunday is that both Alcaraz and Medvedev have to play both players and Djokvoic will only have to play one.

I have a feeling that the Alcaraz-Medvedev match is going to be a long epic battle. Medvedev is serving incredibly well and if he is able to concentrate and believe he can win I think he is in great position to do so. He has dropped only one set on the way to the semis, as has Djokovic - Alcaraz has dropped four sets, one set each in four of his five matches. Medvedev has been playing the best tennis of his career over the past several months.

While Ben Shelton could upset Djokovic - anything is possible in tennis - I think there is only a 5% chance of that happening. Djokovic is crafting points better than anyone, his patience has been amazing. He has only dropped one set and played one very poor game in that match. Most importantly he doesn't have to play either of the other two in the semis. He has been poised to win his first major and he is ready for it.

I know the Alcaraz fans will jump all over this thread. Fine, tell us why Alcaraz will win but please don't be obnoxious about it. No need for name calling simply because some of us don't think he will win. I know he can win, of course he can, but I don't think he will at this particular tournament. He will win a few more Grand Slams in the future but I don't think this one will be one of them.

I have been predicting since the draw came out that we will have a Medvedev vs. Djokovic final. It is possible that Medvedev would win it, of course, but I think Djokovicv has the better chance of winning the match if Alcaraz is in the final.

None of the three are really among my personal favorite players. Rafa, Carlos, Pablo, Diego, Matteo, Denis, Alex, and a few others all are players who I enjoy more and would have preferred to win the tournament, but I knew these three were the most likely to be the actual winner of this particular USO.
 
Djokovic has only dropped one set? its Carlos the one that has dropped only a set, Djokovic even went to 5 sets with Djere, lol get your facts straight before posting man.

Potential length of previous matches overrated as always. For none of those players a match from two days earlier means anything in terms of physical condition in the final if not an outright injury occurs.
 
Djok my favourite for the title - just has that aura and is playing fantastic tennis. Blip avoided against his countryman. Very difficult to see beyond him bo5 on HC with his experience.

That said winner of Med and Carlos will be tough to beat, certainly no cakewalk. Should be a close final. Famous last words lol.
 
Glad you are able to see the truth for once. Djokovic winning the US Open this year is the only good ending after the grave injustice of being banned last year simply for standing up for his beliefs.

Weirdly I am nowhere near as confident in Djoker after the QF than before. The number of BPs that Fritz (Taylor Goddamn Fritz!!!) had against Djoker was far higher than I was expecting. He was in so many Djoker service games. Now replace him with a guy who’s at least 100x better at returning than him… and by that I mean either Alcaraz OR Meddy

Controversially I think the worst result for Djoker is actually an easy Meddy win, not vice versa. Even when Meddy was super out of form and Djoker was super in form last year, their Astana and ATP finals matches were absolute wars. There’s something about playing Meddy which drives him insane in a way that I actually don’t think Carlos does
 
1. Med ain’t making it to the final. Not because he can’t beat tiny but the higher ups at ESPN will ensure(pay off) that the little fella makes it there because THE only matchup that sells RN in tennis for TV is Nole vs tiny.
2. If NOLE doesn’t have major mental lapses like he did at Wimbledon(see Dropper up a break and then 2 of the most atrocious BHs he’s ever hit later on in that TB) he will Win in straights
 
It was to be expected that with the generous (to say the least) draw that the USTA gave his favorite player, Djokovic was going to reach the final with a lot of energy.
In addition to giving him a good rest for the second week, he will now play with someone with a lot of enthusiasm but no experience in this definitive instance of the Majors tournaments.
Hopefully Alcaraz can beat Medvedev in no more than three and a half hours and reach the decisive match also with a lot of energy.

Djokovic won their most recent match, the cinci final which carlos really tried to win. Yes it was close but carlos didn't close out Novak when he could. Djokovic gies in as the favorite based on that win.

Different conditions, different balls, and diferent format (best of 5) also it was a warm up tournament, thinking the favourite is the winner of the last match is a little lame

People hating on tiny lol. Tennis would be a complete disaster without this guy because grandpa Novak just beats all these mugs and collects GSs.
