Why is everyone so sure the final will be bad?

Wawrinka's never taken a single set from Nadal and has never been in a GS final before. Given this, you strike me as optimistic.
I'd enjoy seeing a miracle happen, but realistically I think Nadal will win it in 3 or 4 at the very most.

Not good looking at the numbers from his matches against nadal, but when you beat djokovic and play as he does I dont care about the statistics. If he eliminated djokovic, he can do it to nadal as well.
But of course, nadals style of play doesnt suit wawrinka, but still. I am not counting the man out.

well, fed and nadal both won the first GS final they made. so its definitely possible. as did pete, jim courier, sergi bruguera etc.

Wawrinka had no prayer of even winning a set. Let's be real here.
They may as well not even play this match. I'm just so disgusted. I'm so sick of Nadal. Year after year, it's the same thing.

Emm... Sorry, you mean you wanna compare Wawrinka, a talented player for sure but 28 years old and slamless, with the two best players in the history of the game?
Plus only one of the players you mention won his maiden title against a previous GS winner, and none of them won it against a 13-time GS champion. Safin admittedly did it in 2000 against Sampras at the USO, but that was a freak performance and he was only 20.
Nothing is ever impossible in tennis, but this is as close to it as can be.
The reality Stan has a chance in the final. He is playing better than Fed and Dimitrov and the fact Rafa still not playing all that well.İf Nadal plays his best (Which ı dont think he is capable of doing that with that hand) there is only going to be one winner.I think it will be a quality match. Possible epic if Nadal plays badly.

Nadal will probably be hungrier in this slam final than any of his career (or maybe 2010 US Open final, because that completed the Career Grand Slam). I mean DOUBLE CAREER GRAND SLAM. That is surreal history being made. Look how long we've been waiting for a player to do this. Back in the 60s man!

Good call! I didn't expect Wawrinka to pull this off. I thought he would lose in straight sets, with maybe a tiebreaker in the first set.

I was getting so sick of Djokovic and Nadal hoarding every Slam. This was such a satisfying victory by Wawrinka. Thank you tennis gods lol I think he can get another one and disrupt the tennis world even more. It's funny reading some of the comments here before the defeat of Nadal, which was seen as something inevitable. Brad Gilbert gave Stan NO CHANCE. They just looked at the overall record and history, kinda ignoring how beast mode tennis he's been playing recently. It's amazing.
