Why is Nole so angry??

He's winning, but he gets really angry and looks upset every time he's losing a point.
He used to be so calm and full of confidence till a few weeks ago.

Is there something I miss? It does look like it's throwing off his game...

I don't think you missed anything. You're right that it is strange and isn't great to watch.

The impatience and petulance we can probably cope with and even laugh at, even though it doesn't look good. But the Aggression, virulence and violent outbursts, particularly towards supporters in the crowd and ballkids has to be stopped. Either he will need to work on this himself or he will need to be compelled to stop by an outside power.

Imagine, if the ball boy had replied back "f$%k you jerk!"
Will the ball boy be penalized ?

In Rome he actually yelled at a ballkid again but it was a bigger, confident young italian guy (you know how some people are just big for their age) and the kid just stared Djokovic back as if to say "Stop behaving like a brat". Djokovic kind of quickly grabbed the towel and damped his face with it very sheepishly :)

It's been a bit perplexing these last few weeks, usually in the last 2 or 3 years he reserves these kind of outbursts for matches against Murray, the notorious ball boy getting in the way shout comes from one of those, recent Indian Wells, Miami and Paris-Bercy matches all had them but now they've slipped though to all his matches now.

Agree. It's a slippery slope and has been gradually getting worse and worse as if he thinks it is now quite acceptable to air his aggression publicly in increasingly flagrant ways. Disappointing.......

Well, what can we say? At times he is just an angry bird!

:D

Probably doesn't want to expand so much energy in the earlier rounds. Anyway, even when he's winning comfortably, he is still hard on himself. Striving for perfection. Thiem and Zverev are young guns that have the same mentality. Always hard on themselves. It's a good thing IMO.

The fact that Djokovic is so mentally unstable while being on a long winning streak over Nadal, doesn't bode well for Djokovic if Nadal wins the 1st Set of their semi.

I agree. I still think Djoker will beat Nadal in their presumed semi, but all this Murray-like oncourt negative vibe is bizarre. Djoker has won everything in tennis for a year and a half. He should be bursting with confidence. Instead, he's squandering his energy on trivial things, sending his opponents a message that he's rattled. The only two people in the draw who can exploit that are Nadal and Murray.

Exactly my thoughts! I understand the search for perfection, but being on a winning streak as he is should keep him confident and balanced, knowing that he can turn around a match at any time. Slapping himself, screaming and breaking racquets are signs of insecurity... Which I don't understand.

Besides, it's always pixing me off when these people break custom made racquets that I can never buy

Because he likes seeing Nadal win?
If Djokovic had to save all those Set Points at Rome, you can't possibly expect him to beat Nadal at Roland Garros....
Djokovic is far better at Rome than he is at Roland Garros, while Nadal is far better at RolandGarros/MonteCarlo/Barcelona than he is at Rome.

It is possible Rafa could beat Novak here as surely he has to wina set and even a match against him at some point after all those beatings :-)

I can imagine Nole going into a total meltdown if Rafa finds a way to win just the first set in their RG SF 2016.

All the consecutive sets won for the last 2 years would amount to nothing in that scenario.

Lol they would only amount to nothing in extreme Rafa fans eyes , the fact is no matter what happens next week Novak has been the No 1 player in world for majority of last 5 years and deservedly so

Well, Nadal is out of RG2016...

1) He knows in his heart his time at top is running out, and he isn't going to take the most significant Federer records away from Roger.

or, more probably

2) He feels enormous pressure to win RG, and needs more time on the yoga mat.

It's a regular occurrence - he always screaming at ball kids.

Don't people realise ?? He's as bad a Murray ! But at least Murray does not scream at Ball kids....

Oh no. I realize that and am confused as to why he gets a pass. A person can fuss at himself all day long and I don't have a problem with it, but when you direct your anger towards others, I can't respect that. I'll take Murray over Novak any day of the week. I'm not down with the way that Novak acts now that he's on top. Two different personalities from the way he used to be. Which one is true?

He's not screaming at kids. He's screaming. It's not his fault that there are kids around. And please, give me a break with the "kids" stuff... They're big enough. It's not like they're 11.

Yeah yeah he's a real nice guy ... The kids really deserve to have his frustrations blamed on them after all they are just there to serve him quick right ? It's not like he makes A HABIT OF OF THREE TIMES..

He thinks he's a God. He's just good at hitting fluffy balls.

It's clear he's turning into a megalomaniac...

The excellence thing is only half right IMO. The other half of that is that he's extremely uptight because it's RG. He's been like it the whole clay season.

He knows he can't take out his anger and arrogance by screaming at innocent ball kids. So it's boiling out of him ...

What an Honor 4 the Ballkid. The poor Boy had nothing, until Novak yelled at him.

Decades from now he'll be sitting around with his Grandchildren, telling them the story of how the Greatest Tennis Player of all Time once yelled at him ...
