Why is there so much hate for Federer?

I don't see it anywhere outside of this forum. All my friends that are tennis fans are either Federer fans or respect him if he's not their favorite player.

Only on this forum do I see so much hate. People jump on him like vultures feeding on a carcus every time he loses...

It's difficult to understand because Federer is always good to his fans, respects ex-greats, always fair play on court, does not claim to be the greatest, respects his fellow players.

Are you freakin kidding me? Have you seen the general pro section? Almost every thread is bashing Federer...and you expect Fed fans to not support him when someone keeps trashing his achievements?

I rarely see any Fed fans starting a thread claiming he is the goat/god etc....It's always non-Fed fans that open up goat threads, H2H threads only to trash Federer.
TDK opened up a thread when some random obscure reporter (Lupica I think) claimed Fed was not the goat for crying out loud.

I think a lot of the hate is concentrated in this forum. He certainly is not hated by the vast majority of tennis fans but there is a very concentrated minority of folks on this forum who gloat when he loses and show bitter resentment at any of his achievements....it's probably simple jealousy and schadenfreude.

Sampras and Agassi never had a healthy relationship unlike Fed and Nadal. Fed maintains a good relationship with all players ex or current. Celebrity CRAP is what you do to please the fans and thank them for their support. Thats why Fed has the largest fan base in tennis in the men's game and Sampras never did.

You realize that Federer fans easily make up the majority of users on this forum... a quick glance at any poll will tell you this. The difference is that there are also hardcore Nadal/Djok/Murray fans here as well, and since for some reason people believe they can only like one player, a lot of users insult Federer and his accomplishments in support of their own player.

But you should also realize that a lot of Federer fans often post Nadal hate as well, and to some degree towards Djokovic/Murray.

Sampras was RARELY like that. He and Rafter just hated each other was all. Overrall Pete was extremely respectful and gracious in losing and willing to give the opponent FULL credit (A trait Fed is short of).


Agassi was the bigger jerk of the two.

And Sampras had NOTHING on guys like Mac and Connors or Lendl
