Why is there so much hate for Federer?

Rafa got twice as many in 2011 and 2012 when he was struggling with his form. Of course when 1 of the big 4 starts losing bad, the criticism/mocking amplifies and radicalizes. That's because a player in poor form is more vulnerable to attack.

This is true. When a player is down, he/she is vulnerable. But for Federer fans, they have to deal with much more bigger, formidable group of haters than other fans have to endure.

There is little hate toward Fed compared to other top players. I would say all of the other big 4 are getting bashed worse than Fed. A lot of Fed fans are oversensitive , that's all.

Coming from the "hate queen" herself.
Your own posts about Fed carry enough acid to balance out any hate towards Nadal. Rest all is bonus for knee massagers

And since we are at it, here is for your eyes only - THE CHILD PRODIGY:

It's hilarious that some posters think that Federer gets more hate on these forums than Nadal. Truly hilarious. If Nadal calls a MTO during a close match, the board is FLOODED with anti-Nadal threads. If he's injured and takes time off to recuperate, he's accused of running away/serving a "silent ban" or whatever other rubbish.

Yes, but Nadal has fewer numbers of hate than Federer. When Nadal gets attack, who comes to their rescue? The Sampras fans.

When Fed gets attack, who comes to support the Federer fans? None !
The old-timers just kick back and enjoy the show.

Sorry but that's paranoid. There are Fedal fans on this board, Fedovic fans and Fedray fans. There are also "anti-Fed" people but that would be true for other top players. Djoko got a lot of hate directed at him from Nadal fans primarily but also from some Delpo fans, Fed fans and Murray fans. In terms of witch hunting, I don't think Fed had it worst. Of course, right now, Fed is losing to nobodies, so he's an easy target but on the whole he's been intensely worshipped- and protected/defended more than any other player.

Ex-players fans - Sampras, Roswall, Laver are against Federer. Even Serena fans are against Federer.

Your last sentence isn't correct. The only intense worship on this board is about

1. CYGS
2. H2H
3. Weak Competition

The Sampras fans are just jealous because he's obviously been surpassed by Fed in every category and will probably be by Nadal soon (for slams)

Serena fans are against Fed?? Why on earth?

It's difficult to understand because Federer is always good to his fans, respects ex-greats, always fair play on court, does not claim to be the greatest, respects his fellow players.

For all the crap you spew on this board, esp about Rafa, your hypocrisy is very illuminating. Karma is a beeyotch, and it bit your rear end just righteously..........

Murray has also been massively bullied by Fed fans over the years. (and of course Rafa has suffered being called names and all kinds of degrading stuff.) Maybe it's true after all that "what goes around comes around".

I've seen the hate outside of this forum too. Not just for him but for Nadal also. I don't get it. Anyone who has hung around after a match or a practice session and seen how Fed and Nadal treat the kids and then hates either one of them is just crazy. Do these guys have character flaws? Of course! Who doesn't?, but to hate them for it is pretty silly.

It's way of the internetz, not to mention that pro sport can bring up the worst in people as well (especially football for example, internet wars pale in comparison, aside from Seles stabbing incident of course which was beyond horrific).

Fed has a lot of fans but also a lot of people trying to undermine him in every way, it comes with the territory, it's the same when it comes to Nadal more or less (though as already mentioned, Nadal is attacked from less directions, so far atleast).

I wouldn't say it's a bigger group, just more diverse but yeah people who think this is a Fed forum or something are full of it (though that's nothing new).

Their is way more hate given towards Nadal. Wishes of death and dismemberment are not uncommon on these boards over the past several years, and that is not an exaggeration.

Actually, it is an exaggeration (but that's your modus operandi).

I think it has died down a lot since Federer has had a bad year and so many of his fans don't post as much anymore, or at all...

Yeah, well atleast none of us made grand declaration of leaving this forum (to focus on achieving our personal epic destinies, all the while hitting tennis shots in practice the pros would be jealous of) only to come back and talk smack once his boy is back to his winning ways again.

Son, you're not the one to talk when it comes to that particular subject.

but yeah there isn't really much Federer hate at all here.

Nope, there definitely is and it definitely rivals the hate there is for Nadal.

OP asks a genuine question.

Thread derails into flamewar.

Every. Thread. Ever.

Simple answer : 90% of the posts, created by 10% of the users, is pure garbage.

Not to mention the good posters don't post as much because of this.

People hate federer. Why?
Because they are jealous of him.
He got everything.
All the record.
Most GS record.
Most no.1 weeks ranking.
Lovely family
Most expensive commercials like Rolex, Benz, Nike etc...
A lot of money.
He does a lot of good stuff and get praise by that.

I wouldn't worry about the hate - at least Fed is still a topic for discussion. At this rate, in 6 months or a year from now, Fed won't be a topic of daily, tournament-to-tournament discussion.

Agreed. Among the torrential flood of hate of Nadal seen on TW:

1. Calling Nadal "Topspin Monkey (and the racist implications of that)
2. Incessant mockery of his speech pattern
3. Taking joy in predicting career-ending injuries to his knees
4. Constant false accusations about PED use (because their "evidence" ultimately centers on the fact is that Nadal actually lifts a weight)
5. Endless jokes about his knees
6. Accusations about his uncle
7. Baseless claims that he fakes being humble
8. Creation of numerous threads when he loses (see: Wimbledon 2013)
9. Dismissing his career achievements and/or anything that places his above Federer.
10. In threads where Nadal recieves credit, the susual suspects not only destroy the thread, but create alternate accounts in a sad attempt to prove a "majority" negative opinion of Nadal.
11. Daily flaming of anyone known to be a fan of Nadal (see this thread for one example).

...and this is just scratching the surface.

There's no comparison--Federer is treated like a (false) "god," while Nadal is relentlessly attacked morning, noon and night. The only other player who recieves as much or more hatred on this board is Serena Williams...and I will note I expect someone to jump in claiming the opposite--which usually means they are among the most guilty TW members.

This. Federer fans come with so much force, so much aggression when he's on, then when he's losing, act like sad puppies that need to be nurtured. They can talk all the **** they want when they're winning, and about any other player. But when Fed's losing and fans of other players start talking about Federer, it becomes a crime. Immediately in their mind Federer becomes the most hated player on the tour, when he's clearly not. I want them for one day to switch places with a Nadal, Djokovic or even Murray fan. Then they'll realize how annoying it is when your guy isn't treated like a god.

which are the hate threads that popped up after fed's loss? which ones?

Nowhere, otherwise the OP would have linked them as "evidence" of this allegedly terrbile treatment of Federer. Instead, we get a number of "advice" threads for Federer, what he needs to do, what equipment, work on his backhand...the works.

Ohhh yeah, that really sounds like hatred.

Nadal should be so lucky to have "hate" threads so tepid in nature.

So you deny that his uncle gives Nadal on court coaching?

Do you also deny Nadal takes MTO's and time wastes to throw his opponent off?

Stating facts is not hating...Nadal and his uncle have BOTH admitted that they engage in illegal coaching. How is that hating?? :-?

He has received several time violations? There is a reason for it....He breaks the rules to throw off his opponents....not all the time but he does on important points.

Nadal is a great player but to say he doesn't engage in mind games and has never received illegal coaching is being ignorant...These are just ....well......facts

People like yourself immediately attack those who dare to question and harbor suspicions about Nadal with regard to PED use. Absolutely no different to the fanatical Armstrong base claiming all those who accused Lance of PED use over the years were crazy, delusional, jealous, vindictive human beings who couldn't possibly be truthful honest individuals who were seeking to expose a pathological lying fraud.

I have long suspected Rafa uses PEDs (not saying he is the only player), just as I suspected Armstrong used for all those years, yet I'm labelled a delusional jealous hater (I'm not even a Federer fan!) for questioning how a man plays for 5 hours and 14 minutes in 100 degree temperature is able to come back two days later and play for another 4 and a half hours and actually look fresher and more energetic as the match goes on or when the same man improves his serve speed dramatically for 2 weeks and then its never to be seen again or the same guy who plays at an extraordinarily high level then is supposedly unable to compete a couple weeks later and requires 7 months off and continually changes stories about the reason he is out.

Christopher Rochus (a freakin' fellow professional) PUBLICLY puts it on the record he believes Nadal isn't clean, yet people like yourself, Toni Nadal and Nadal fanatics in general immediately dismiss these people's claims as ludicrous and label them idiotic crazy liars motivated by hate of Nadal. French TV I believe also raised suspicions about him, not to mention many journalists.

Its just some of us are not naive and gullible to believe some of things he has done over the years can be achieved without the use of PEDs. Calling it as you see it is not hate, its simply being honest. Its no different to the people on this forum who believe Murray wouldn't have won the USO without that Hurricane or the people who believe Federer wouldn't have won Wimbledon last year without the roof closed. Doesn't mean they are motivated by hate of Fed or Murray.

Don't hate the man, hate the fans.

There are 6 Federer topics in the first 7 posts on this page. Some of his fans think his accomplishments somehow reflect upon themselves because they like him, they almost want to use the term "we" when talking about him.

That's not true. All the players including the WTA players get their fair share of hate but remotely close to Federer. Federer is the only one who gets hate from all fan bases, which includes fans from Nadal, Sampras, Serena, Nole, Murray, Laver, Rosewall. At least Nadal got supports from Sampras fans, even from the old-timers who just want to down talk Federer since they don't like the idea of Federer surpassing Laver. Other players at least got support from other fan bases, but Federer got no one except his fans.

guess you missed 2011 when fedephants were the biggest Nole fans

People like yourself immediately attack those who dare to question and harbor suspicions about Nadal with regard to PED use.

This is more than suspicion. The people in question post hardline false statements packaged as factual, so-called "photo evidence" (which is not medically accdepted to any degree) and references to people in other sports with no connection to Nadal--all to attack and damn the man for one and only one reason: he dominated Federer. Notice how some accused lower ranked player (with no record over Federer) is never assulted in ths manner.

I'm calling your statement defensive BS.

Next...

I'm labelled a delusional jealous hater (I'm not even a Federer fan!) for questioning how a man plays for 5 hours and 14 minutes in 100 degree temperature is able to come back two days later and play for another 4 and a half hours and actually look fresher and more energetic...

Ahhh! The heart of your failure: you are basing your medically unqualified opinion on how it "looks" to you.

That is not evidence based on any study of Nadal's personal physiology which--like every human being--differs from the next. Yet "look" is enough for you to make sweeping, baseless accusations. The very reason for #4 on my list.

Christopher Rochus (a freakin' fellow professional) PUBLICLY puts it on the record he believes Nadal isn't clean

Where is HIS medical evidence?

Just as I thought--nowhere.

Tell Rochus to drop a line to the world media when he has the lab reports proving his hollow, would-be witch-hunting.
