Why is TTW dead?

Why is TTW dead right now?

  • Its the first week of Indian Well and there is little tennis of any interest to most members

  • Euros are depressed because much of Indian Wells is live in the middle of the night.

Because tennis is like the decadent French court of the absolutist kings in the 18th century. A couple of players who have been there for ages (le roi est mort, vive le roi!) and still dominate, court lackeys who depend on the popularity of these players to even exist and have no interest in changing anything in their games to pose a threat (while praising these sacred cows every chance they get), and finally a multitude of forgettable players who play the role of serfs in this tragic and baroque comedy of errors.

The activity level is proportional to how people really feel about the tournament currently going on or just finished and not how important they say it is during debates where they have agendas to push.

Indian Wells, has it started or is it just around the corner? Either way not many people globally will watch much of it compared to viewership numbers for any of the slams.

I think it's tied into 18, Meles. Consider what you may have on your hands had it been 15, instead. Shudder to think. :) Although I doubt that I'd've remained to witness that.

In seriousness, there was a rightful exodus of the folks who battled daily on behalf of their idols (we'll use that word) to be players in the ATG conversation. Seems that some are trickling back now... the difference is there are no more arguments to be made to drop RF from his perch. Hence, ye olde mute.

1) At times people have had trouble posting during a big slam match due to server load

2) On ocassions during a slam or after the mens final the forum isn't even up, we just can't access it. Likely it crashed due to being overloaded.

3) After the men's final hundreds of posts are made analysising the result from every possible angle for weeks.


I honestly can't say I've noticed any of the above during lower tier events as I'm not itching to log on to read people's thoughts on what just happened. Indian Wells, yeah let's all try and be more excited.

Well you've been an IW stalwart and glad to see a lot of great posters in this thread. Perhaps they've all been here in the Federer threads which I've finally tired of a bit.

The great thing is any minute celebrity doubles starts at IW with a bunch of singles players in doubles. Djokovic and Nadal/Tomic:confused: doubles very late tonight, so Euros can wake up an catch a bit of the fun in the morning (its Saturday, just go back to sleep later.;)) Late nighters might catch Zverevs versus Thiem 2nd match on. Dimitrov and Wawa play together third match on which would a little late. Sleep is overrated.

It's true. I haven't logged on (literally) in years but I've been lurking. It's pretty cringe worthy (I don't want to click threads regarding my favorite player..sad no?) .....but i can't see how it'd be any different if another member of the spotlight hogging squad won lol.

The game has taken a seriously decline with the old guard looking OLD, and no new host of dominant champions taking over. Its only going to get worse in the next 4-5 years

TTW is generally dead around this time of year. Wait till this time next week and suddenly the place should burst into life - especially if we get these Big 4 and NextGen clashes that the Indian Wells draw has promised.

Not to worry OP! There is going to be a big buzz around here in a couple days' time when/if Nadal-Federer play. I'm sure the DelPo-Djoker match will create a frenzy too.
